Mmm! Sounds delish! I love runners, squeekies aren't quite the same!
You've been really busy,i hope your efforts are appreciated,my arms are aching for you!
Well you know what I mean😁😁
I dead headed all pm, bucket loads, OH gave his handiwork another coat of preserver, plus the trellis,as I wanted it the same colour.......yes the eyes were rolling!
Finally driven in by another shower.
I've taken pics of finished planter and also the plants I got to go in it. Now it's got to be filled with compost, maybe soil then a deep compost top.

I say ! Good job there. It's going to look lovely when it's all planted up. I like that Indian Summer Boysenberry, that's a lovely colour.
Nice to know your arms are aching for me - it's been a long time since anyone said that to me 😁

😀 @AnniD. You were quick off the mark there!

That planter is going to look lovely against the white wall @Valley Gardener and I love your colour choices. It should look good in all seasons so full marks for clever planting.

I haven't counted how many foxgloves I've potted on, but it took more than 2 hours. The digitalis lanata cafe creme that I felt sorry for has some strange leaves that I thought were weeds, but no, it's just a very ugly foxglove. It will go somewhere hidden at the back, but I will be nice to it.  The alba ones can be given away when I have planted what I want.

@Fran IOM I can well understand why you are not here and hope you are having a lovely time. I bet you sleep well tonight 😌.

    Enjoy your evening everyone.

Forgot to ask, what's a squeekie?

I'm very proud of you ladies with your Foxglove pricking out.....Well done!
Thank you for the kind comments on my choices,I spent ages choosing,Fran will be interested in the Heuchera choice when she gets back to us.😉

I wondered what "squeekies" were as well - that makes sense !
Have just been out to close up the greenhouse, and to my surprise there was a hummingbird hawk moth flying round the garden taking advantage of the agastache plants. I watched for ages while it used it's proboscis to get the nectar. Made my day !

    Good Evening all,
@AnniD What hedgehog could miss that sign! Like @Purplerain I wish you hadn't given the slugs names! Found one this afternoon and wondered what his name was but he was as stiff as a board so what happened to him I don't know. You could say it is rather hectic here with two little ones. Feel quite exhausted and the noise! Two children who don't eat sweets, or chocolates or biscuits. I find that strange but good for them. Looking forward to receiving my hydrangeas so hope they aren't a disappointment. @Valley Gardener Love your choice of plants. You and OH can be congratulated on your work for the planter. It looks perfect. Will look forward to seeing it all planted up.
@AnniD You must have the patience of a saint to have potted up 92 foxgloves. Well done. No doubt you will keep some for yourself. @Purplerain Funnily enough I didn't sleep well last night. Was awake around five and couldn't get back to sleep which is unusual for me. I think tonight I shall make up for it.
Managed the allotment this afternoon. Fed my cat and managed to finish cutting the rest of the fuchsia hedge. Butterflies are back again after the rain. My gladioli which is flowering is rather nice with flowers in yellow with orange edges. Don't remember that last year. The echiums are on the way out so that will leave a lot of space. I feel as though now we are just preparing everything for autumn and winter. Where did the summer go.
Will now make tracks for bed and hopefully make up for the lack of sleep last night.
My other granddaughter's birthday tomorrow age 13. Doesn't seem five minutes since she was a baby.
Think the weather is good for tomorrow so if not a picnic at least a visit as they have never been over there before. The noise outside with them drilling up the pavements is quite deafening along with the noise inside!
    Goodnight all.

Good morning all. I looked up the Hummingbird Hawk Moth and at the same time found out what a proboscis was. What an amazing thing to see, and I watched a few youtube videos on them. You were very privileged @AnniD .

The sun has come out but with a definite drop in temperature and it's hard to believe that we will be looking out the bubble wrap again soon. I don't hate Winter, but if I had to cancel a season, it would be that one.

I hope you have a good day @Fran IOM and I am sure the family will love the secret garden that you call an allotment. It is so much more than a veg patch and you have put a lot of love into it.

I expect you will be busy filling the planter @Valley Gardener so you must put a photo up when it's done.

Is Chummy really 49 @Hazel-1 ? I must tell him to slow down😀. My sister has a cat who is 19 so that makes her 133. I hope there might be a bit of give and take with cat age, as I am so fond of him and his brother and don't want them picking up their pension just yet.

Right enough from me, so enjoy your Tuesday everyone.

  • Unfortunately I won't be able to fill it on my own,I need some rocks or something at the bottom, then ordinary soil, then top off with compost, think I will need help.

Thank you @Hazel-1 for your comment. He's a clever old stick, that wood was on its way to the dump!

@Fran IOM did you realise it's National Allotment Day?  Just heard it on the radio! What a suitable day to show it off to your family.

Here is my latest "find" in the garden whilst forking up weeds, isn't it sweet? I think it must've held ink, only about 3" high.

That would look really pretty with some flowers in it @Valley Gardener  :) Amazing that it survived in one piece.

Hope the weather holds for the allotment visit @Fran IOM, a shame about the racket from the roadworks. Maybe you could ask them to take a break and pay a visit as well !

@Hazel-1 , we are all in awe of Valley Gardener's OH and his building skills  <3

@Purplerain, I am still getting over the excitement of seeing it. It was so fast, I am sure I could hear it's wings humming. There was no way I could have captured in on camera.

    In other news
There was no way Hedgehog could miss the entrance to the Restaurant last night...

He also liked the way it lit up the bar area

  • Wow,that's really clear,as you say he couldn't miss it!

I've only seen a Hummingbird moth a few times in France but not in the uk. They are amazing aren't they, you could mistake them for a bird, you were very lucky to see it Anni. The other thing I've never seen here are Swallowtail butterflies, yet in France I saw loads, they were so graceful.
Yes I will try some small flowers in the ink pot.
Hoping next time for a few Roman coins!😁
