Thanks for posting those @Purplerain :)
I wish l had a view like that from my bedroom window, and l suspect OH would like to see a lawn like that as well....
That bed looks quite comfortable,  some of the beds in these old houses make me think l'd rather sleep on the floor. I remember seeing Queen Victoria's bed at Osborne House, it was tiny !

@AnnaB, thanks for butting in with a compliment  :)
Seriously though, that's a good point about dogs and raisins. One of our neighbours was making a Christmas cake, and while her back was turned their dog gobbled down a whole load of raisins. He was very ill, and the vet's bill was not cheap.
  • Beautiful pics @Purplerain, I would have loved it there. I feel the need to visit a lovely garden at the moment!

Lovely pics @Purplerain.  If you haven't already been Dumfries House is worth a visit.  It used to belong to same family as Mt Stuart.

Thanks Joyce. That is definitely one for the future. The weather yesterday was dull for the trip over, but the sun came out and it turned into a beautiful day. We had Zavaroni's fish and chips at the pier, and the ferry journey back was sunny and calm. It topped off a lovely day perfectly. Back to rain again today though ☹️.

    Good Evening,
@AnniD I see what you mean about the hedgehogs being different. There appears to be one bouncer missing but possibly hiding behind another.
@Purplerain Those photos are lovely. It must have been a good day out.
There certainly was a strong wind this afternoon but I don't think quite gale force as they forecast. Managed one and a half hours carrying on where I left off. It worked out quite well as the rain started at 4pm just as I was ready to finish. Have you ever been dead heading and found you have cut the wrong one and have a lovely rose in your hand instead of a spent one....Maybe I should wear my glasses. At least you can be quite sheltered on the allotment when you are working on the ground. I was quite surprised that there weren't all that many weeds. There is so much to do. It seems to have accumulated over a short space of time. Mostly plants that are at their end and need cutting down or pulling out. Forecast for tomorrow is very much the same. Thought the temperatures were supposed to be rising.
Enjoy the rest of the evening.
  • Big chats on tv about peatless compost, and foreign slugs arriving in the UK!
I'm sure I've been using peatless compost for years........many years in fact.
They had a delightful array of foreign slugs on Welsh TV News, complete with food for them! I suppose when they'd done their stint, they would have salt poured over them!

Drizzling all day here,so no deadheading done. Nice for bank holiday though.

Hi @Valley Gardener It's very quiet on here today. Can't say I have anything much to report as the weather wasn't ideal for gardening. Raining most of the morning and windy but managed an hour but then it got really damp and felt more like winter than August. How are the slugs getting to UK? Hope they don't come to visit me. Do they look much different to our usual? There weren't many birds around today either. The sparrows are missing their mud baths as the soil is too wet. They like my spare topsoil and at first we couldn't understand why it was full of little dents till we saw the sparrows. Just hope the weather is better tomorrow. Looking forward to a nice dry and sunny day for a change.
Don't think anyone else could have got out into the garden today.
Maybe tomorrow will be a little brighter.
    Enjoy your evening.

That was an interesting programme @Valley Gardener and raised some good points. I am lucky in that there's a garden centre fairly close by that takes pots, seed trays and plastic trays for recycling. I have a whole load to take. With the best will in the world, even reusing pots for plants that go to the charity shop and ones l keep for my own use, there are still loads left.
The point about importing plants with hidden pests was a good one. What were the chances of the reporter picking up a random pot with all those foreign slugs etc underneath?!!

@Fran IOM, the slugs etc are coming in , in the pots of plants imported from abroad. The suggestion was that gardeners look for plant labels with a Union Jack symbol so that they know the plants were grown here.
It's funny, you're hoping for a dry day, and l could do with some rain ! I have been round deadheading and cutting back things,  and when l cleared the leaves etc away the soil was like dust.

Can't supply any Hedgehog drama today l'm afraid, OH forgot to switch the camera on 🙄. The food had all gone though. The camera has definitely been switched on tonight!

@AnniD  What's the bet you missed a dramatic episode of Mr H and Mouse! You'll never know now. Any sign of Mr.B?
