Oh I so badly wanted them last year, but was advised they were a bit spreadable for my tiny patch. I grew them in Dorset where the garden was much bigger. Eucalyptus was earlier in the spring summer,it's grown about 2ft since planting, hoping to keep it under control.

They can be quite thuggish, l'm forever pulling bits of them out. The flowers are very pretty though, but l don't seem to have much luck with the white one for some reason.
Mr B is sat on top of the greenhouse looking somewhat soggy in the rain and very disgruntled. l will try and get a photo but it's quite dark and he kind of disappears into the greenery. He came to the back door to show me that he had caught a slug. Much praise, followed by some suet as a reward. Needless to say l have made a rod for my own back. Why bother searching for slugs when you can get food from the Human? To be fair there's not much else to do, even The Duster (TM) has been waved around a bit, and our planned trip to the tip has been postponed. Still, it's good for the garden.....
It's been a funny day here weatherwise, heavy thundery squalls,so not been able to go in the garden. The roses look a bit bedraggled too,and I can see the tree needs 're staking.

Thanks @AnniD for the ID. Don't quite know where it came from as I don't remember planting one but then I don't remember very much these days. I will have a look @Valley Gardener to see if it has spread. Don't know what sort of Eucalyptus you have but they can become rather big to say the least. It's like my Silver Birch which is about 8ft and very much doubt I shall ever see it as a mature tree but my son had this fixation about a Silver Birch so we shall see. Lovely trees but on an allotment? Could be the focal point. Did Mr B even eat the slug or maybe it was a present for you? Who would believe that at 7am it was pouring with rain and this afternoon was really warm and suitable for gardening despite being a bit wet. Didn't do a lot but did remember to plant out my Delphinium. @Valley Gardener how are your sempervivum coming along. I shall have to repot mine to a bigger one. Growing upwards which I didn't expect. My Dragon's Blood is doing well but not quite got to the shade of red yet. My roses looked a bit bedraggled as well. @Purplerain Butterflies and bees out in force again today. I had forgotten I had a small Buddleia which must have flowered recently so the butterflies were enjoying that. Hope you have all had a good day and an improvement in the weather.
@Valley Gardener, no pic of Mr B unfortunately . It has been a pretty wet and miserable day here and quite dark. I don't think my little camera would have captured him from the house even with the zoom, and l didn't fancy going out in it ! He was quite happy to swoop down to the back door luckily!
@Fran IOM l think the slug was breakfast for the youngsters, it definitely disappeared ! I'm envious of your dry weather today, we have had just over 17mm of rain today but the next couple of days are supposed to be dry🤞 Everything is looking a bit soggy here as well.
@Purplerain you are right, l suspect our garden conditions are very different ! I think an astilbe would suffer here, even the drought tolerant plants struggle at times. Penstemons do quite well though !
Hedgehog food is out, camera set up, and l am going to catch up with The Great Garden Challenge. I haven't always agreed with the judges, so l'm interested to see if l do tonight. Have a good evening everyone, what is left of it.
Good morning all. The rain you have been getting made an appearance here in bucketloads at around 10pm. It is dry at the moment but the garden looks quite bedraggled.
I managed to do quite a lot yesterday and dug out the foxgloves, trimmed the mixed hedge and did a general tidy up. One thing that is bothering me is the mares tail. It is in the borders, so I am pulling it up by its roots when I see it, but I am sure it is worse than it was. The only way to get rid of it is to move (said the old gardener) but I will just have to live with it 😀.
I am going on my walk this morning so will push on and check in later. Enjoy your day everyone.
Well done @Purplerain I never set foot outside as it was awful all day here. I haven't got Marestail, but when wedding the other day I was thinking I had a favourite weed (easy to yank out) and my worst one is definitely dandilions, and a stubborn bramble that creeps through from next door. There's something satisfying about weeding!!😁😁

Good Morning all, Appears to have been raining over night so all looking a bit wet but appears to be brightening up now for a dry afternoon I hope. @AnniD Any antics caught on camera last night? What did you think of the Great Garden Challenge? @Purplerain At least your rain will have done the garden good. You seem to have been doing the same jobs as me. The geranium I moved to where I had dug out the foxgloves has thanked me by flowering. It probably heaved a sigh of relief. Another day I can't cut the grass. Googled Mares Tail in case I was nurturing it but it doesn't look familiar to me. Enjoy your walk and hope it keeps dry for you. @Valley Gardener Bet you are itching to get out in the garden after the bad weather of yesterday. Did you spend the time painting instead? I very rarely get the root of a dandelion out fully as they seem to go on for ever. Very satisfying when you mange it though. Out this morning so will come back later. Have a good day.
Phew! Just taken down my rocks, two were really heavy, will do a pic later, also spotted a cutting I did of Huskers red penstemon, and the whole flower is red, it's parent plant is white with tinges of pink? Still,it's nice, and next year will be bigger.
