@Purplerain....was just wondering if you had been to Branklyn Gardens in Perth, famous for the Blue Himalayas Poppies, I used to spend hours there, when I lived in that area, but though I bought many a seed, could never get them to grow.

@Valley Gardener I bought some "rare blue poppies" months ago which arrived with just about two or three leaves which I potted up. They are growing but think it's going to be some time before I can plant them out. Just found the order form and they are called Meconopsis Lingholm. Don't know if they would be similar. Think it will be some time before I see any flowers.
I haven't been there @Valley Gardener but it's on the list for visits. Yesterday I was off on an open garden day of seven gardens, but we only managed six. The weather was very good and although they ranged from an established acre, to a small new build, they were all interesting and I took some good ideas away with me.
I took a photo of a wildlife pond and loved the way it ended in a pebble beach. Your frogs would love it. Here it is:
This one is the new garden and I loved the rambling rose noisette in the background:
It was a very enjoyable day. Have you been to any gardens recently?
@Fran IOM, l have received my email from SGC which promises 650 varieties this week. Could include meconopsis. My self restraint is admirable, l haven't opened it Drama here this morning when Mr B was attacked by a cat, fortunately he got away with just the loss of a few feathers. I was very upset, but was cheered by his sitting on the neighbour's garage roof and giving me a right earful. I made it up to him by doing the "shaking of the food container", and he graciously consented to perform his bird of prey impression and swept down to me. He appeared later and sat on the greenhouse roof, obviously having been in a bird bath somewhere, preened and sunbathed while chuntering at me the whole time, while l cut the sweet peas and talked back to him. It has been a strange morning, what with that and the fact that we have cancelled our trip to Tatton Flower show. I hadn't mentioned it before because I didn't want to tempt fate, but circumstances dictated that l could have shouted about it from the rooftops anyway ! I cancelled the hotel reservation while OH was out getting the papers, and he came back with a bar of my favourite chocolate by way of compensation, bless him. I haven't opened that yet either Dug out a Lychnis "Gardeners' World" from the front garden because it was clashing horribly with the "Ruby anniversary" rose and replaced it with some salvia "Merleau blue". Weather is lovely but rather warm for gardening , but the washing is drying nicely at least.
@AnniD I didn't realise the SGC email had arrived until you mentioned it! I wouldn't want any more meconopsis thank you. Think I got them from T&M. But I am trying to think of what I can fill my new space with. Think it will be another trip to B&Q. I would like whatever I buy to be fairly well established. Mr B had a lucky escape. It's a wonder he wasn't so scared he didn't want to come back but obviously he wouldn't miss your breakfast. So sorry you weren't able to go to the Tatton Flower show. Is there a chance of going some other time or was it a one off. Have you eaten your chocolate yet? That reminds me I have quite a few chocolates from yesterday. Once I start I don't know when to stop. Cut the fuchsia hedge this afternoon in the sun and that was exhausting. Love those lawn rakes (fan shaped) to gather all the cuttings up with. One of my favourite garden tools. My Verbena is about six foot tall including the self seeded ones. Will catch up more later.
@AnniD How awful Mr B almost copped it,if only the cats would leave them alone. I'm afraid Cush almost had one today,I didn't realise he was hiding under the Fuchsia bush. I'm normally aware of where the cats are.

@Purplerain. Lovely pics of the garden visits,I loved the huge wildlife pond, how I would like that in my little patch, beaches of pebbles look so natural, ideal for wildlife,my frogs would find it easier than piled up rocks I'm sure!😊
