The Big Garden Birdwatch have a camera live streaming a bird table if interested. If you need to de-stress, I find playing it full screen and having a nice cuppa works well:
@BobTheGardener I've been watching this all week, I love it! No matter what I do, I get zero birds in my garden, very upsetting I put feeders in surrounding neighbourhood areas! I expect people think I'm a nutter. I signed up for the birdwatch, God knows why!! Apparently it's helpful to report no birds too
Crazybeelady - do you have a photo of your garden? It's puzzling why you have no birds. I will have a go at spotting the birds on that day - today I heard (presumably) a bird I've never heard before but by the time I'd come in, found a site on my computer and listened to a few I was so confused I gave up!
@SueAtoo I've tried to add a picture about 5 times but it keeps saying file failed to upload! It's a new build garden but it's been there 5 years now so they should have got to know it by now! There arent any big, established hedges or anything for cover, but I have a few little fruit trees.
Have copied the email from today below. I think I may have to do my one hour today as have to be outside/shed and the forecast for Saturday and Sunday is even colder. Might take up @josusa47 's idea of not starting the hour until a bird appears.
Good luck to those who are taking part. May all the birds in your neighbourhood turn up in your garden.
Big Garden Birdwatch is finally here! We’d love you to take part.
In your hour of watching, you’ll get to see the fascinating antics of your garden birds. From squabbling starlings, lively long-tailed tits to fluttering blue tits, you never know what will show up until you start looking, and it changes every minute!
Your Birdwatch creates a fascinating snapshot of how our garden birds are faring, and these add together to create an impressive big picture of garden birds all over the UK. We’d love you to add your sightings to the picture! Many of us have grown closer to nature over the past year – and Big Garden Birdwatch is an amazing way to celebrate that.
Of course, there’s always the chance that you don’t see anything during your Birdwatch. That’s fine – we’d still like to know, as it’s useful information for us. But we hope your hour is full of drama and perhaps even surprise! We’d love to hear your Birdwatch stories. Looking at the forecast here for tomorrow, it's either going to be this afternoon or sometime on Sunday l think. Yesterday l saw 2 robins in the garden at the same time. What are the chances of that happening again in the "official" window 🙄. Fingers crossed that everyone taking part sees at least one bird.
Thats a good ,idea @josusa47 , starting from the first bird you see. More uncomfortable if you have to be in your shed. A flask of tea and some fingerless gloves for you @Fran IOM. An hour is a long time,if I were you I would also wrap a blanket round my knees and take a cushion!😊

It doesn't matter if no birds turn up. The idea is to provide a random hour's sample of bird activity in your garden and not the 'best' results. It's just as important that the data reflects the gardens with low bird activity.
My new bird feeder and food finally turned up this afternoon 11 days after ordering it. There's been no feeder up for over two weeks now so I don't know if the regular birds will return this weekend or if they've found an alternative food source now.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
@wild edges did you order from Amazon or similar? They seem to take ages. I have since got in touch with our village pet store a couple of miles away, and they have been brilliant, quick with free deliveries. Their mealworms are 3 times cheaper too. During last spring summer, they also delivered good compost at competitive prices.
