RIP the white pigeon.  I found it dead on the path when I went out to church this evening.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I bet a lot of people do their best to attract more birds on the watch weekend. It must seem like some places are deserted but there's probably a feast for the birds elsewhere.

Only managed 40 minutes of birdwatch as it was so cold on the allotment but the birds were in abundance as though they didn't want to disappoint me.

    11 Goldfinch +
    7   Sparrows
    4   Bluetits
    1   Robin
    2   Starlings
    1   Jackdaw
    3   Blackbirds

    How did yours go @Robmarston?

    😂 @NewBoy2
  • It rained all day so I postponed till the next day - and then ended up having no time. I’m going to do it this week for my own interest.

Didn't think my bare urban lawn was worth it, but...

2 Magpies (one was brown an white, bizarrely)
    1 Blackbird
1 fleeting Kingfisher which used my garden as a fly through between canal and private fishing pool.

    I was buzzing.
  • The birds in my garden seem to adhere to calling in for breakfast, lunch and/or afternoon tea so judging a good survey time is easier.

    My submitted list included:

    Blackbird
    Blackcap
    Chaffinch
    Collared dove
    Dunnock
    Goldfinch
    Greenfinch
    Robin
    Wood pigeon

It’s good to see the greenfinch and chaffinch back as they have been AWOL from my garden in the last year or two having previously been present in numbers.
