Are they short of drivers Hosta, or are they just rubbish at management altogether? Not watched KE yet as I collect daughter from work at that sort of time. No spoilers We've got a weather warning for rain for Monday and Tuesday. It's to start raining by lunchtime today, and basically not stop till Wednesday. Morning Fidget - I don't really care for apples that much, but I love the spring blossom flumpy - are you back to normal after your holiday? That's what I don't like about hols - a drag goign back to work

Both. Half the store seemed to go out "driver training" but very few of them ever take a van out. Funnily enough, now it's cold and getting dark at night, they'd all rather work in store. I'm fine with it, plenty of overtime for me at "time and a half" which none of the other drivers get as they started too late. There are a handful who have worked there so long they still get "double time" on Sunday.
Daughter says much the same about the managers. They seem to lack hands on experience, or have forgotten the reality of it. They have a new one who she says is great, because he knows how things work, and everything runs more smoothly because of it. Simple really - or so you'd think

Morning all 😀. Out for lunch with my Dad and sisters today - Mum would have been 81 next week, so we like to raise a glass 🍸
Visited a local GC yesterday. It used to be an independent (but not very good - very high tat/plant ratio 😦) but has recently been taken over by Squires. Have to say I was very impressed at the difference, and will start visiting more often. We have a very good independent close to us, who I always try first, but always nice to have a decent backup.
I learned something from GW this week ......I always wait til November to plant my tulips, but now discovered I don’t have to if they are all going in pots .....thats next weekend sorted then 😀
Have a lovely time chicky My mum's birthday soon too. She would have been 92. Have you bought some nice new tulips? I love them, but they mostly need to be in pots anyway because of our conditions, and I'm too lazy to keep buying and doing them. That's why I like the species ones Rain is on, and it's gey windy, so I may have to do h****work. Some indoor varnishing can be done though.

Just waved goodbye to son, DIL and grandson (who at 9 months seems to find his granny hilarious... can't think why, but it's quite gratifying!). Busy weekend as we have a rehearsal in a couple of hours (the usual monthly one), and then I'm catching the overnight bus from Bradford to London, followed by 2 trains, a bus and a walk to Lee Abbey, the place in North Devon (near Lynton) where I worked in my gap year. I'm on a working party, clearing undergrowth round paths etc. It'll be fun... Back home late on Friday to a house full again - the same 3 back again, this time to use us as a "hotel" so they can go to a wedding. Keeps me young, I suppose...
Best wishes to all. Have a good week - I'll try to catch up when I get back!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Good morning all Late on parade this morning, but we've been having breakfast and then I did a wee bit of h*wk and OH has gone to work. The rest of the day has been set aside to assemble and sew up the jacket. An easy supper of pork chops, braised fennel and (bought, not homemade) gnocchi is planned so there's not really anything to prep. Hope everyone has a lovely day
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
T'is the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness which means it is cider time. Harvested the eating apples yesterday to make the first couple of gallons which should be about 7.5% alcohol. Cleared my young cider trees today which will get pressed tomorrow followed by the cooking apples later in the week. I should produce about 10 gallons this year so that is next Summer sorted!
We have 11 fruits on our Chinese quince tree this year and 5 have dropped so far. That should give us a lifetime's supply of quince jelly and homemade fruit pastels.
