OH seems to have forgotten he has a shiny new shredder so there are still great piles of small branches waiting to be processed.   Might have to resort to a new list of jobs to remind him - and keep him from doing stuff he shouldn't when I'm away in September taking Possum back to Namur.

No but paper ends up on the compost tho he now keeps cardboard for putting on veggie beds after crops finish.  Had a huge pile of flattened boxes after our move and guess what silly OH did!  Put down the cardboard without removing the plastic tape and then, come spring, he rotivated it.

He has a habit of thinking he knows what he's doing so I sometimes let him learn by experience as long as it isn't dangerous for my treasures or tools.  This year I note he's removing the tape.......

Shredding was essential because the drought left me with a compost heap consisting of sticks and straw.  It looks a bit like a compost heap now.
Is garotta worth using? Is it dried pee?

Lyn, I hope you dont put your Bank statments on the compost heap!  I shred absolutely everything that has any kind of personal details, banks statements, addresses, account details of any kind.till receipts,  My son has been the victim of adentity theft, you cannot be too carefull, once a month everthing is shredded, then goes in the re-cycling bin, there is so much, 2 compost bins, plus bi-weekly garden waste and usually weekly trips to local tip.  Was shocked to see it was 9d overnight, from 22 in the day.  stuff will need going in soon, Hubby just had weeks annual leave to paint outside of the bungalow, (the actual bungalow, not doors or windows) it rained a couple of days,so he is behind, Now he is dismantling the shed, its laid on the earth unfortunately, now we have all the stuff out, found out how rotten it actually is, no floor at the back at all.  Our garage, which is in the next road is full, as are 2 greenhouses, and my potting shed.  Oh, yeah, he is very safety conscious (usually) am just about to drop  grandaughter to other granny yesterday, he came in laughing, said he forgot to switch the power off, and touched a live wire in the shed, luckiy he has very quick reations (works in the motor trade has had quite a few shocks over the years) AND the circit breaker cut in, dread to think what I might have come home to!

My neighbours have asked me to look after their garden while they're away for 3weeks. They've planted a cherry tree in just about the worst place.
One week into the job I'm hoping that the damned thing doesn't die before they get home.

Can I please be curmudgeonly now it's cold enough for the central heating to come on?

@Nanny Beach that made me laugh, I can just see someone rummaging around in our wet soggy mushy compost to find a bank statement, then only to find that is soaked in re cycled beer courtesy of OH.
Paper is scrunched into balls, that way it lets some air in for a while.

We'll have to start another thread and blame it on the cold.
