Beefsteak tends to be the type of tom not variety , hope you have plenty of room as you will need plenty of plants as they dont produce many fruit each.  Cherry tom I would suggest black cherry or sungold both have lovely flavour, and can be grown bush or cordon. Hope this helps @Dee73.🙂

I usually grow Sweet Million, but they do live up to their name, you get loads of them!

Pete.8, thank you for the list will keep a look out tomorrow.

purplerallim, thank you I didn't know that think I might give them a miss and just grow moneymaker which I've heard of and Marmande which I've not and some cherry tomatoes.

    Thanks again both.

Personally I'd suggest giving Moneymaker a miss.
It's the most bland tomato I've ever tasted, there are far better varieties.
For a similar size tomato it's hard to beat Shirley - been around for ages, easy to grow and a good crop and tastes like a tomato should taste

Pete.8, thanks again. We have a Dobbie's and Wyevale near us so I look out for that one. The taste is the reason I want to grow some this year. Shop bought tomatoes have no taste just colour on the plate.

I'm trying Roma a plum tom this year as on here everyone seems to like it. Tell me about it @Pete.8 black russian are a waste of space and I won't go down the beef tom route again.

I really liked the flavour of black russian but they did suffer from BER and tasty as they were a tomato weighing 700g is just too big for a sandwich!
I think I got about 6-8 fruits from 2 plants

Sounds about right @Pete.8, they are not worth the room. The Roma appear to be robust seed as they have all germinated and will be potted on in the next week or so.

    Good luck with them.
I'll be sowing mine in about a week.

I always grow a few Roma, just let the sprawl,  good for cooking and in toast.
The biggest I grew were the Jersey Devil but not this year, I’ve run out of seeds so need to use others up that I’ve already got.
