I'll be growing Gardeners' Delight (as usual), Yellow Pear and Rosella and will be sowing around the end of March.
I don't have a greenhouse so there's no point in starting them too early, and big tomatoes take too long to ripen outdoors.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

I grew Tigerella last year debs, but it wasn't terribly inspiring. I read some reviews about it and they were very variable. I found the smaller ones were tastier, so I tried to pick them before they got too big, and let them ripen off the plant.

Hi All, Just started to grow veg this year. I bought Gardener's Delight and Moneymaker seeds yesterday. I was given a few seeds of Marmande and received free with a gardening magazine Yellow Delight. Will be interesting to see what they taste like.

Could I as a questing I have some cherry tomatoes bought from a supermarket in the fridge, if I take the seeds out can I then use them to grow on and will the produce fruit.

Will do that Fairy. To be honest I got the packs for 50p each from a rummage bin at my local GC last autumn and liked the idea of stripes! I am a sucker for something a bit different

Hi @Dee73. You can grow plants from your shop bought toms but it's unlikely that they will be the same as the originals. Most supermarket varieties are F1 hybrids and won't grow true from saved seed.

Fun to do as an experiment, I've done it with bell peppers.

This year I will be sowing 'Minibel' again, a short bush variety that is the perfect size for my windowsills.
Trying out some 'Tumbling Tom' in a raised trug, and I caved in and bought a packet of 'Sungold' yesterday.

Edit: You've nothing to lose by having a go Dee.
I'm always up for experimental gardening, hope you get a good result from yours👍.

I only grew them [tigerella] because the girls had bought me some little packs of 'unusual' seeds - ie bright colours, purple carrots etc as a present.  :)

The purple carrots were a disaster  :D
