Just got in to hear the sad news ... I knew she was very ill but it still comes as a shock ... I grew up listening to her music and her great great voice and wonderful delivery.
I'm back from the city with loadsa shopping and considerably shorter hair .... the woman at the next mirror really loved it and kept on saying how great it looked
I also went to the market and bought a couple of sea bream for our supper, then some sausages, pork chops, a piece of beef rib, pigs' kidneys and some green back bacon ... that lot'll keep us going for most of the week. I got a smart red case for my new mobile phone, some special oil for my hair as the hot weather has dried it to almost a frazzle, some cologne from Body Shop and other bits and pieces (deodorant, cotton wool pads etc etc etc) from Superdrug and I had a silver chain mended and soldered while I waited for the bargain price of £3.50 and while that happened I was entertained by a mother and her 11 year old daughter who wanted to have her ears pierced but kept backing out just as it was going to happen Her exasperated mother has told her that she now has to wait until she's 16 and can go and get it done on her own 'cos mother is fed up with all the fuss and drama
It fair ferdiddled down most of the day ... the bus was full to bursting with youngsters who were camping at a local Scout/Guide outdoor activity centre ... think the weather forecast had resulted in the leaders taking them into the city for a shopping expedition. There was great excitement ... for us 'older people' as they described us when explaining that they would give up their seats for us, it was like going on a school trip, with all the chatter

Presume you are having a colonoscopy then Hosta, hope all goes well. The caffine thing, I gave it up completely for 2 months, (special acid free diet) only fluid allowed was water, felt fine, but didnt help me sleep any. Its never great, but sometimes worse, 5 hours I feel fine on, but not 2 or 3. I cheated last night, went to bed at 1am and took my last co-codamol, (low strenth over the counter job, not prescription) that is a very last resort after several weeks. Was talking to someone I know who said, you shouldnt take anything, if she ants to swap places with me, she is very welcome.
Dove my #3 unstepson stood up to let 2 'old people' sit down in the bus station. I don't think he expected the reaction he got. He was still all warm and glowing days later. No 'old person' will be safe standing near him for a while.
Taken me an hour and twenty to do a fifty minute journey to osteopath. Why can’t they warn us when roads close! Don’t think I will mind it being able to drive for a while! However there was a half hour tribute to Aretha Franklin on the radio finishing with Bridge over troubled water. Soooooo sad, truly one of my favourite singers .

I do sometimes think that if some adults were a bit nicer to children then children would repay them many times over ... I sometimes see some very grudging, unkind and curmudgeonly behaviour from adults when children are only being children and are often not sure what's expected of them ...

A much overused word these days, but she was a "legend".
A real true legend

Then OH and I went to an interesting exhibition https://www.nua.ac.uk/events/all/in-the-city/ and then had a pint (well I had a half) and a light lunch at The Lamb
