Morning all. I've been absent for a few days as all the family have been to stay. Only son 1, his wife and 3 small daughters are still here, but niece, her OH and 2 children are coming to lunch on Monday.
I have a day of peace at last. Son and family have gone out sightseeing for the day. Here is bombstruck! I hope they manage to gather everything up when they leave on Thursday. We will have already left on Tuesday.
Going to Norfolk on Tuesday, ferry, will arrive on Wednesday. Should be moving from small Norfolk cottage to bigger Norfolk cottage with garden, packing to do. But first, our friends, who I first met through this forum some years ago, will be staying for the weekend.
I have a busy day though, today. Must hang out their washing, then deal with mine, then prepare the winter paddock for the horses while we are away as the winter shelter still has 2 big bales of hay in it. Have to re-fence a bit and refill the water bins. Whole house needs hoovering. Hope son leaves it tidy as there will be a couple of viewings with estate agent. Housesitter is good at tidying though.
OH is in England, he's been to his great niece's passing out ceremony at Sandhurst. Today he's gone to Kew Gardens.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Forgot to mention the weather. It went up to 37° last week, awful, couldn't sleep, 29° in bedroom. Then we had storms in the night with lashings of rain. Garden was well watered and the cooler temperatures now are a relief. But there has been bad flooding in parts of southern France. Campsites have been evacuated, ruined the holiday of a lot of Brits and a German man was swept away in his camping van.

I saw that on the news BL - meant to ask you if you had any relations down in the south of France, although I didn't think you had mentioned that before. Really horrific - that poor man. Dove - I know people make jokes about Norfolk, but I definitely didn't think you were related to pigs! Those bridges aren't cheap either, are they?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Hi all. Some much needed rain yesterday, bur lovely again today. Just finished a dead heading session. If I say so myself, the garden is looking spectacular at the moment, this summer has been great for it. Good luck with the move BL, a very stressful time.
NFN., a well known medical term!
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Good luck with the move BL Awful weather in the South of France ... friends who live in a tiny little village in Provence says their area has been declared a Disaster Zone or whatever the French equivalent is ... apparently among other things that means that they'll not have to pay any excess on their insurance claims ... they've got roof and gutter damage and a lot of the house has been flooded ... and they're not young (quite a bit more than 27) ... she says the village major is being magnificent.
Glad your garden's looking good Pdoc ... mine's just looking tired ... apart from the cannas, ginger lilies and hostas on the terrace ... they look marvellous
The little C. hederafolium alba are peeking up all over the Shady Bank ... I'm wondering whether to cut some of the hostas back so we can see more of them ... ?
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Here in Norfolk we've got bridges for bats ... apparently they're useless https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-34605886
