Not a single bean germinated this year, not even in loo roll tubes.   That's fine by me as I don't like green beans much and loathe runner beans and now, it turns out, OH says he's not keen either so why did he make me plant them?

I must have bought about 40 tomato plants to try lots of varieties, was given 3 more and sowed a pack of San Marzano.   All have grown like triffids so next year, please, remind me to be restrained when I go to the Angles plant fair in April.

Lovely breeze coming in thru the windows.  Forecast syas we'll only get to 34C today.  I hope so.  Lots to catch up and the weeping willow by the pond is gasping.

What will you do with them, maybe some jars of chutney🤔😘
What will I do with them?? Hand them to Hubby and let him deal with them. I grow them, that's my contribution. It's down to him now.  :D;)

I find that drying tomatoes and storing them in jars for winter soups and stews works well here a Hosta.

@Pat E, or anyone else for that matter; is it possible to "make",at home, sun dried tomatoes, as one would get in a jar?

Hubby is a chef, he slices small tomatoes, places them seed side up with plenty of oil salt and pepper and cooks them very low heat for about 2 hours. Keep checking but they taste delicious and keep for about 7-10 days in the fridge.

@debs64 I do a very similar thing ... I freeze some of them in plastic takeaway tubs.

can you "jar" them when hot, in eg olive oil and keep them as one would chutney?
With 45 plants this year, methinks we're heading for a glut.
Why DID I grow so many?

Never tried but maybe worth a go if you have an excess, can't see why it wouldn't work.

Thanks @debs64. I'll speak to the cook when he's back.
There's only so much tomato and chili relish we can get through so I thought something else might be useful.

It can be a bit dodgy keeping things in jars of oil because it can provide the  perfect conditions for botulism .... chutney and jam use vinegar and sugar as preservatives but oil doesn't work the same way.

There have been discussions re the dangers of botulism with flavoured oils on the Cookery Forum I'm a member of ... I know the risk is small with tomatoes but I still reckon freezing is a safer way to go when using domestic kitchen equipment
