Know what you mean, Fairy.  After the holiday I think I now need a big project to get my teeth into... some overgrown shrubs near the compost heap will have to look out, I think.   :)

Can't beat a bit of hacking and slashing Liri!
I have loads of bulbs to plant - somewhere. I'm revamping the bit under the front windows, now that I've knocked in the edging stakes [at last] so I think some will go there, along with all the lilies that need dividing.
Why does everything keep having to grow so big.... ;)

Cool here and overcast but brightening up.   Not going to get much above 20 today so Possum has her warmer schlepping kaftan on.

Lots of bird activity yesterday but quiet today.  No autumnal cobwebs yet but lovely blackberries in the hedgerows.  OH has picked some to make crumble this evening.  Yum.

Anyone watching celebrity masterchef?  Anyone else ready to smack that young chap round the head if he says "happy days" again?

Agree about things growing big - especially following the recent rain.  While we've been away (only 11 days), shrubs either side of my "secret path" have decided to shake hands across it.

I can't watch it at all Obs. I have a desire to smack Greg Wallace on his very smacky head all the time  :)
Bake Off on tuesday though - hurrah.
Better go and get on. The sun is shining, even if I'm not
Have a good  day all - whatever you're up to.
Hope the thighs are fine afterwards chicky  ;)

If the cake is good she won't notice thighs FG.

Thanks for mentioning Bake Off.  Now set to record.  I don't mind Greg Wallace.   He can be quite funny and is keen to help people along whereas I get very irritated with John Torode - a chef - who always used to complain when people mixed pork and shellfish, not knowing there's a whole Portuguese traditional cuisine that does just that.  Too busy playing with Asian stuff I reckon.

@AuntyRach get your curtains/soft furnishings etc first, then match your paint to them. Curtains etc have a limited number of colours in a design that you will like whereas paint...you can have what you want. Ask me how I know?!?!?  ;)

Good advice PP, altho a friend of mine in Belgium consulted a "decorator" when she was doing up her kitchen and took a sample of the new curtain fabric to the paint shop to get one of the background colours matched.   Turns out that on its own the chosen colour was almost fluo lime green so she painted her cellar with it instead and even then had to calm it down with buckets of white paint.

The F&B we used in the bathroom was skimming stone, along with calamine
dining room is rectory red, everyone thought I was mad but have since agreed I wasn’t!
bedrooms are yellow and Blue can’t remember the names, I think they are a bit ott so I use the numbers
agree that paint wise they are worth it as the finish, IMHO,  is far superior!
been out for a walk, didn’t trip over anything! Glad I had sunglasses on!
hope everyone having nice holiday weekend. Normal one up here.

We used skimming stone in the annexe and folk always comment on how nice it is.
I'd say Rectory Red in a dining room must look stunning at night, especially with candles.
