Who are you calling a wee smirr, Hosta? Only one needed for the spammer if anyone can go and click... Morning all - afties Pat. How strange your auto correct is! Nice of the friend indeed Dove Cloudy [ dark and light ] and normal looking August weather here, but I think it's to be dry so I'll get a few things done outside, I hope.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Good morning. Took a while to get to sleep last night cos of the heat so slept late. Set to get to 42C today but not sticky. OK so far with a gentle breeze but it disappears at sundown.
Pottering indoors or in the shade then. The PT toms have grown so huge I can't get in there thru the front door so will need to be up early tomorrow to get in and thin them out before it becomes unbearable.
Happy anniversary Wonky and OH. Proper coffee is essential in this household Fidget. Enjoy. Hope everyone has a good day, whatever your plans.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Morning all - and Happy Anniversary to Wonky and Hazel, and their respective hubbies. Hope you all have a lovely celebration.
I like "smirr", Fairy & Hosta. Very descriptive. There are some fab Scottish words - came across one while reading a novel by Trollope yesterday, and had to look it up. "Umquhile". Means "former" or "previous". The dictionary lists a lot of synonyms - which pleases me - "erstwhile"; "whilom" (which is Old English); "ci-devant" (French) and "preterit" (Middle English, from Latin). What a rich language we have.
OH has decided to go to "his" team's first match of the season, which involves driving to Shrewsbury. I think he's mad... but at least I get a day to eat what I like, when I like, and do a bit in the garden.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Will do @Hazel 1 ... and a happy anniversary to you and yours too.
We had a lovely visit to North Suffolk ... saw some good paintings and prints including work by a former tutor of mine ... it was a group show by former students of the Royal Academy School ... had a lovely lunch here http://www.deargenteins.co.uk/ , a bit of shopping at the proper ironmongers (you can buy individual screws not in packets) and the bakery and at one of the two very fine butchers ... a wander around the tiny back streets and a pint/cold drink at The Angel ... a lovely day made even better by bumping into some old friends and having a bit of a catch up
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
@Hostafan1 did I give you those plants? I know I gave some to somebody. They do indeed live up to their name, I have them here on the table and I just keep picking them like sweets.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
34C in the "cool" north facing kitchen. 36C in the shade outside. 44C on the south facing front doorstep at 6:22pm. Have stayed inside most of the day apart from hanging out washing and feeding the birds and watering some of the pots in the shade. Need to go and do the rest soon.
Remind me to buy fewer tomato plants next year. Can't get on the PT from their end at the mo. Have to go round via the cucumber and melon end. Triffids, the lot of them, so a good pruning needed. On the other hand, the assorted sizes and colours are all doing well and are very tasty.
OH is playing golf tomorrow. Apparently he uses his brolly as a parasol between shots.
Sounds like a good day out Dove. Enjoy being busy Busy.

We once went there to look at a cottage for sale, but it was on a main road. We had a drink in a pub.
32° today. Have the fan on in the kitchen.
Will be busy this week. Son & family come tomorrow, followed by the rest of the family on Monday and Tuesday.
