There’s supposed to be a shower or two on Friday, but I don’t believe them, Hosta.

Morning all. Still in the NW (not NY!) but home tomorrow. Obxx, it was Pride weekend in Manchester so it was specifically the rainbow flag, hence the Gilbert Baker quote. It sometimes has violet but seems more often than not to be just 6 colours. Manchester was a sea of rainbows :).

Brrr Pat. It's so interesting 'knowing' you on here - Australian weather is quite different to my preconceptions!

Had to look him up LG.  His original flag had 8 colours:-

    Hot pinkSex
    RedLife
    OrangeHealing
    YellowSunlight
    GreenNature
    TurquoiseMagic/Art
    IndigoSerenity
    VioletSpirit

Clearly the  USA doesn't use the Richard of York thingy to remember the colour sequence!

I suspect that for mass printing of flags the six colour version is easier / cheaper, rather than it being a design decision!

Yes but surely pink is the colour of Gay pride?

I've been to many, and the pink is very , very rarely included on flags etc.

Thanks Hosta. I feel for the animals too. I’ve wallabies cleaning up many of my plants, but haven’t got the heart to shoo them away. The plants will recover eventually.

LG, interesting comment about climate.  I think that in the past, Australia has been shown to be sunny beaches, etc. The reality is that we extend from Tasmania which is closer to Antarctica than we realise, mountain ranges in Victoria and NSW which have annual snow dumps, tropical climes up north, and everything in between.
This current drought is very hard on the farmers and animals. Many of us have been contributing money to help them. They’ve been bringing truckloads of hay from Tasmania for some farmers. Not sure who gets it and who misses out. Hopefully everyone gets help.

We are watching Portrait Artist of the Year at the moment. Don’t know any of the artists, but the judges are the same as previous years. Interesting.

Good that can help some of the wallabies Pat.  I hope you all get some decent rain soon.  It must be heartbreaking to see livestock and wildlife having such a hard time and so hard for the farming community.

Anyone watching Nadia's family favourites?  What do you reckon to coffee and orange poke cake?  Doesn't appeal to me or OH.

The cake didn't appeal to me either.  I do enjoy a slice of lemon drizzle cake though.

Maybe it's cos she's a tea drinker but, for me, coffee cos with nuts such as walnut or almond or pecans.....

    Lemon drizzle is scrummy.

I've had a lovely afternoon weeding and de-stoning a 4m long bed, transplanting some brunnera and an epimedium cos I think they'll be happier here and bunging in some daffs I've turfed out of trough and which already have good roots growing.  Yikes!   Watered the whole lot in and mulched with 100 litres of best potting compost because the soil in that bed is a bit poor and low now that I've removed another barrow load of stones.   I've also done a major weed of its partner bed at the other end of the ruin but not the fine weeding or any bulb planting.  That'll have to wait till tomorrow or Saturday.

Proper mucky and drippy now so I'm off for a shower and then curtains, a little later than planned.  Advised Possum to go and get some sun while she still can and she's decided it's too hot and is sat in the shade.
