Morning all. Hope everyone is well.

That's a worrying situation, Pat. So sad. I hope there's some rain soon. Welcome home Chicky - sounds like you had a wonderful time, and that turtle photo you posted was amazing. Hope Liri's having a good and relaxing time in Ireland.

I watched WDYTYA too Dove. It was a moving one. Did you see the Shirley Ballas one? Fascinating.

Half my lawn has come back since it's been cooler and damper. The other half... not so much. Very patchy indeed. I think it got properly fried.

I need to think of a wedding present for someone I haven't seen in years, and whose husband to be I've never met. And I need to be able to buy it tomorrow. Any ideas anyone? I'm stumped.

We put on our wedding invitations that we didn't want presents, just their presence. It costs enough these days just to go to a wedding, transport, clothes, accommodation etc.  We already had two and a half houses full of stuff, mine, his, and half his mothers. I think it is different if you are just starting out and have nothing.

Thanks Dove. Any of those might work, thank you. I should have said though - they're in their 50s and have been living together for a number of years so are not exactly setting up home.

In which case a voucher for something they enjoy or enjoy doing ... wine from Oddbins, smoked salmon from somewhere special... or a restaurant voucher?

Morning. Dull sky this morning but no rain forecast (yet) so may be able to do some pottering - if my sore back allows.

Oh - wedding presents are tricky (even when they ask for money- that’s a difficult one to judge). Photo frames? Picnic blanket? Nibbles platter/serving dish?
    Good luck!

Hope you all have a decent day ahead... catch you later.

I was thinking of a gift voucher, as well, but also, they might like a flowering plant that they don’t already have.

Thanks for all the ideas. I can't risk a plant, much as I'd like to, as I don't know if they garden, let alone what they like. They travel a huge amount for work and pleasure, so are probably not around much to look after things. But this might mean picture frames would be useful. A foodie voucher - something special or unusual - is a good idea. Would love to go for smoked salmon but there's no way of knowing if they've become vegetarian (doubt it, but who knows). Ornithology is another interest.
