@Obelixx   :)  the real Roscoff onions have an Appelation d'Origine Contrôlée ... we can get a few here in Waitrose when the season starts, but they're only available in small quantities for a week or so.

It's not a long season here but certainly a couple of months at least.  I've found this - http://www.mammothonion.co.uk/cgi-bin/trolleyed_public.cgi?action=showprod_ROR12 selling sets and seeds but I suspect I'll need a French supplier for sets.

    Ooh, poor Dove.
    All alone with the spammers.
    I've just flagged them too.
Not easy though when the internet keeps freezing up...

Here is something which may make you cheer up a bit, or not...

Dove, you wondered what this year's harvest of onions etc will be like here in Holland. Well, it's awful.

Growers of all sorts of things, like for instance potatoes, onions, sugar beet and corn are desperate. They expect to have at least 50 percent less than in a normal year.

Cow farmers are keeping their animals in, because having them walk in the fields would do even more damage to the already totally shrivelled grass.
They are feeding their animals the food they had already bought for the winter, and are wondering where to find new food  for the winter, because there is already a serious shortage.

And then there are the idiots.
A commercial fruit grower had 60.000 kgs of lovely Opal plums. He expected to sell them to a large supermarket chain, but when he delivered the first batch, they refused them because some of the plums were 3mm! smaller than what the supermarket wanted.
They didn't care  that the poor man lived in an area with a ban on watering crops!

In the end his sister got angry and took to facebook. That caused all sorts of people to cueue up to buy the plums.

    Morning all.
A few showers overnight, but not much actual rain.
