I can drive up to see Possum in Belgium faster than OH gets my text messages which I only send because I know his phone is unlikely to ring given the signal here.
One of many reasons I never send them. If I phone someone, and they answer, and we talk. I KNOW the message has got through.
HI all,Pat we had 35mm of rain over the weekend and our tanks are full, don't know what fell in the dam area will know in the paper tomorrow. Our family have arrived from the UK althought they were 1hr late leaveing heathrow so missed the connectig flight to us but BA put them on the next flight. Fiona says the lock one one suitcase has been broken but hope they left us a few chocs that was in that case. WE have also got a cold wind today althought the sun is out. Well i better put the kettle on as its 45mims from the airport
Exactly. Trouble is, when OH is out and about the signal is poor so I can't talk to him and he has cloth ears in any case. If I need him to remember something I send him an email.

Afternoon. I am not glued to my phone, unlike most of my friends and family, but I couldn’t cope without it. One message App lets you see when the other person has read the message or even just been online on the App, so it’s a great way of (covertly) checking on relatives. My Dad is in the @Hostafan1 way of thinking: speak to the person to avoid misunderstanding or the message not getting through, but I have ‘invested’ many hours showing him the ropes with his mobile.
AuntyR - I hate phones, so the less time I spend using it the better. I prefer to text, as does my youngest. She spends a lot of time on her phone, but she reads on it, she's not checking every detail of her friends' lives. Some of them seem to spend every waking moment on them I'd also rather email- but I don't have one of those all singing, all dancing ones that has t'interweb. LG - Hosta hasn't replied to your dyno rod comment.... Cleared up here, but the overnight rain, and smirr today has dampened the ground nicely.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Another phone hater here. I think it's related to a career attached to a bleep / phone, 24 /7. Disappointing few hours at Chatsworth, they have made some big changes recently, and not for the better [ IMO ]. It was nice to get out for a stroll though, even if 90 year olds with zimmer frames were overtaking me. Now going to attempt to clean off some of the graffiti.

cheeky fairygirl. I've now called the hospital twice to see if they have an appointment for me, but they've not got back to me. Maybe I'll call again tomorrow. I've already got the sprinkler going. I'm soooo bored with it now.
We get our appointments by letter Hosta - mine have been quite quick in arriving, even if the appt. isn't for a while. Is that unusual down there? doc - I meant to say - how horrible re your wall. People are just vile sometimes. Will you be able to sort it?

I hope it works Pdoc. Pity about Chatsworth. What have they done? I've never been but it's on my list if we ever do a slow trawl north to see BIL and senior SIL via Barnsdale and a few other gardens.
I've just retreated to my sewing room with Geoff H DVDs to get out of the heat. 46C on the front doorstep at 5pm and now the breeze has died so not likely to get cool before bedtime.

Moira has got some of the stuff the Council use, so hopefully that will do the trick.
