Roll on the 16th!  Football over - check!  Tennis over - check!   No more grunting.  Thank goodness the Beeb isn't doing the Tour de France!

Been a busy Obxx.   Last night was the concert in a lovely old church in Vouvant but, my goodness, they were built for small people!   Short pew seats and kneeling pad all wrong for my legs and feet to get comfy.   I'm 5'7" so not a giant.   Gospel singer Joniece Jamison who has worked with the Eurythmics and Elton John so she can belt it out like Aretha but, sadly, trills all around the actual notes like Whitney so some good and some very frustrating.   However, she and her keyboard player were a good combo and, with the help of their Congolese singer/conductor chappy working with a local chorale for just 3 rehearsals,  they had the French on their feet, clapping and singing tho not all in time.   Those of us who dance know how hard it is to watch a couple who can't hear the 1 and the 5 in a bar so are out of rhythm most of the time.  I was sat next to a woman like that who clapped all wrong all night!  Afraid I got giggly.    It all ended on a high with Oh Happy Day  and everyone on their feet - not the Edwin Hawkins Singers classic version but better than Sister Act!

Today was Les Sables d'Olonne - market for fish and veggies and coffee, port for lunch - very good - and then hairdresser's for Possum and me - very good cut by a girl who listens and left my fringe alone - mangled by the last one so growing out - and Possum's chap has done a good job on hers.   Lastly a raid on the SM and then home.

Watering the potager the lazy way now - sprinkler on a timer for Charlotte's and tomatoes and fartichokes and Bintjes and sweetcorn and cabbages.   Going to offload some Charlottes on the neighbours as we can't eat them all.

National holiday in France tomorrow so 2 brocante/car boot/flea markets to go to before gardening again.

Anyone got plans for the weekend or are you all glued to sport on TV?

I have plenty of gardening planned, just not when the tennis is on! To be fair this is the only sport I watch (oh - apart from Wales at rugby).
I have some work colleagues coming for afternoon tea on Monday so I need to neaten the garden and bake cakes!

The only sport OH won't watch is synchronised swimming!

Belgian ballroom dance teacher, partner and daughter arriving Sunday pm for a few days so lots to do before then - brocante, garden, cleaning, cooking.......   Wisley café banana cake already done.   Possum is making sushi for nibbles and I have to make a very lemony cheesecake.
