A lovely cooling rain shower greeted me as I walked out of work - think I will still have to water the pots but hopefully it will cool the house down a bit.
Re sports: I can’t stand most sports, but do follow Wimbledon. Football in particular really annoys me as I believe that the pay and prestige the players attain is not justified. When I watch my NHS colleagues save a life - that is something to praise, value, reward and celebrate. Just my view.
Aw shucks....you old devil doc... I'm more than old enough unfortunately - late starter There's been some nice NHS stories this week. We are so lucky to have it, yet people continually grumble. Usually the ones who use it most and have put the least in. If that woman along the road doesn't shut that r*ddy dog up - she'll be needing their services. To have it removed from her rear end.... Fairy cakes [appropriate] for daughter - oven on for less time! Lemon drizzle... yummmm. I think I'm a bit like Lyn - compete against myself. Always wanting to do something a bit better than the last time. It's a fine line though, as you can end up never satisfied. Can you ask the weather gods for a little up this way AuntyR? Last Thursday was the hottest day on record in Scotland, not just for June. The art school is being dismantled Dove - don't know if you heard? Hopefully they can rebuild some of it. The walls had all shifted with the heat.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
@Fairygirl yes I'd read that somewhere ... just another sadness ... but hopefully it'll be rebuilt and this time the sprinklers will be functioning earlier
I suppose there is just one bit of silver lining, and that is the employment that will be there for many skilled craftsmen and and women who don't always get the opportunity to work to the very highest standard.

President Emmanuel Macron has proposed removing the word 'race' from the French constitution. It currently reads: "France... shall ensure the equality of all citizens before the law, without distinction of origin, race or religion." Mr Macron wants to amend that to "origin, sex or religion." He is backing campaigners who say that, as all humans are 99 per cent genetically identical, the idea that humanity could - or should - be divided into different races is prejudiced nonsense. Is the concept of race indeed so discredited that it should not even be mentioned in the conduct of human affairs? That policy would cut both ways; it could become illegal, for example, to discriminate positively with 'targets' and 'quotas' in pursuit of ethnic diversity. Mr Macron's opponents believe as long as racism exists there will always be a need to talk about race. There is also a wider moral question: how far should we go to recognise and even encourage human differences and group identities? Some people, it is reported this week, are uncomfortable about the idea of reserving university accommodation for only gay and transgender students. There was controversy after the Mayor of Paris threatened to ban a black feminist festival which proposed to exclude white males. Are we risking "creeping segregation" in the name of diversity and inclusion? Or do separate spaces offer vital support and solidarity to those who feel marginalised and ignored?
I think this will be fascinating ... we're recording it.

Or as that great philosopher Sting put it, "To search for perfection is all very well, but to look for heaven is to live here in hell".
Got to love a lemon drizzle cake though

@Dovefromabove It always used to annoy me that BrightonGay Pride had to have a "women only" space and a "people of colour" space. We're all "of colour" just different colours.
I'll keep you one R'girl, although I'll take some to work tomorrow to avoid too much temptation. I made extra drizzle for some ice cream.... Re the art school Dove - yes, it's good for craftsmen etc, but it's been pretty devastating for all concerned. Other businesses round about too. I just hope they don't have any issues along the way. That prog sounds fascinating. I think a different view and approach is long overdue. I went out to water a few things - some of the sweet peas have started flowering, so that'll be nice to have for the house. Feet up for me now. Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone, if you have the energy!
