Well I was supposed to be going to Scotland this weekend to see in laws, but hubby will be going on his own. No way can I leave this garden for four days. I tried soaking everything and then seeing how long before wilting starts, two and a half days max. So a four day trip is out. I can ask a neighbour to water the tomatoes, but she is trying to keep on top of her garden, and there is no way she could add up to three hours watering a night on top of working full time and walking the dogs, and looking after an ill husband. Still not a drop of rain here.  I am going to mist the Roscoea bed before the sun gets on to it.

@figetbones, that's why I never consider leaving home for any period at this time of year.

    Morning 😀

I’m having to water my pots every morning, but the perennial borders are surviving with a soak once a week - which I must say has surprised me.  But we did have a very wet spring, and the borders have been heavily mulched, so maybe there’s still some moisture left in the soil.

    Dentist this morning .....Joy 😬😷

Hi chicky. I've just watered the terrace before breakfast then I'm heading to the polytunnel to water in there before the heat builds up.

I wonder if Dove and lovely OH have succumbed to hypothermia after their night under the stars.

Morning all/afties Pat - the Tour is getting exciting eh?
Horrific scenes from Greece, and they're considering arson? What is wrong with people....
Much nicer here now that it's not getting to twenty till much later in the day, and there's a breeze. Nice and cool last night when I was outside. I couldn't live with the temps you lot in 'the sarf' are having.
Had a quick skim back - so glad you had a good report at the hospital doc. Hope it makes you more positive and optimistic too  :)
Stay positive too BL - it's a drag doing it [done it too many times] but it only takes one buyer.... ;)
Better go and get organised for work - doesn't seem to be getting quieter, but the endless stream of  ' Oh, I forgot to order my rosettes for the weekend' doesn't really help. 'Oh we forgot to make them' is getting very tempting...
Have a good day all  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Normally I don't leave the garden between Easter and September. Most years I can leave it 48 hours or so, with a neighbour watering the pots in the greenhouse, but from a gardening point  of view , this year is a nightmare. The only things that like this heat are the sweet corn, and they are now 5 ft tall and looking lush. They will probably all be at perfection, the week we go to a wedding in Canada.  Spare dahlias put in a shady patch, are doing better than the ones in full sun. Today is apparently going to be the hottest since 1976.  Iced drinks at the ready. Commiserations to any poor soul having to work in this heat, especially if there is no air conditioning.

It's only going to be 22C here. I might need a pashmina across my shoulders to keep the chill at bay.
