Obelixx,  where we are going there is no tv reception and WiFi is only available if you walk a few hundred yards to the beach so it will be bliss.

Sounds good.  A couple of years ago I went to a friends reunion weekend in Donegal and have a photo of everyone of them on mobile devices looking up info or statistics or some such.  Not chatting.  Ages ranged from 58 to 72.  Can't tell you how bored I was.

If we ever organise it here they won't be happy - internet at snail's pace till about 2020 as they roll out fibre optics and we have to hang out of a window or go outside to get a mobile phone signal because the locals voted against a second mast cos of health worries for their kids.

Glad you enjoyed yourself @chicky  B)

Lots of watering done ... plants not looking too bad, but a large part of this garden is in the shade for part of the day ... there are times I regret that ... this isn't one of them  :)

    Morning all.
It'll be odd having OH and Possum back after so long away, won't it? I don't take very long to get into my own groove when OH is away, then when he comes back I'm constantly suprised to see him!

Yes, there's a 'plant creche' at Hampton Court too, Obxx, not that I've ever used it. I wouldn't buy anything delicate, but I like buying direct from the nurseries and not paying postage (the lavender I wanted was only £3 a pot, but when I had investigated it before, the p&p was something like £6 - was delighted to find them in the Flower Marquee instead).

I ordered more pond plants to fill spots now I know more about how it all behaves, and they arrived today, which is good because I have time to do something with them (I won't tomorrow :sunglasses:). However, it does involve moving some other things about a bit so I've done that bit - having a cup of tea with you lot and then going out to place all the newbies.

    Have a good trip Joyce!

Yes LG, it will be odd.   There have been periods when he's worked away for 4 months in Austin - hard to get home at weekends - or 2 years in Utrecht starting when Possum was only 3 months old.  He'd get home on Friday evening and be handed a bundle while I went and had a peaceful shower and scrub without having to hurry.   Then I had to get used to him being home all week and wanting meals of an evening!

It'll be good tho.  Apart from anything else there's a large pile of ironing waiting for him since I assume he'll be glued to football and the Tour de France and there's a whole list of jobs in the garden including turning over anew bed so I can plant treasures.  Easier to water a whole bed than individual pots.

    Enjoy your new plants.

Hosta hope coalface duties not too bad

Dove thanks for reminding me I have the sprinkler on, water never a problem up here
    but we are being sensible

Joyce as you say, another time. Enjoy the peace, tho I think it might be the show this weekend, you know how these country folk party!

Chicky I can imagine the poor plants, I like Obelixx s comments on how they do plant purchases over there.

Dont get me started on the debacle of the Glasgow art School do you know these poor neighbours still can’t get back in. They have no clothes and nobody will go and get them any.  The fire fighters showed themselves rescuing cats.  They have nothing and  poor souls it’s through no fault of their own. The reporting of meetings is shocking.
There was a fire in a nearby nightclub and it all seems to be tied in. Looks like Glasgow’s reputation for needless fires is returning. Meanwhile that part of the city is all boarded up, traffic is congested as roads closed
Thank heavens I don have to go there any more!  Sorry, rant over

Watering done and campanulas and centaurea cut back and cosmos planted to fill in the gaps ... it looks as if my C. montana rosea has shuffled off this mortal coil ... it's been very unhappy since the Beast in the East, but what few leaves it had have withered on the vine now.  It's roots are in the rain shadow of the big ash tree and although I've had the soaker hose on it quite a bit it seems to have given up.  Oh well, the C. montana grandiflora the other side of the tree seems quite happy, and the honeysuckle 'Graham Thomas' is spreading to fill in the gap so I won't worry about it.  It's a very inhospitable spot so it was always a risk  ... especially as I'm 'not allowed' to clamber up that bit of bank with watering cans as it's where I had 'my fall' last year.

It does.  Why aren't social services or the local council or even charities helping?  Very important to save cats and dogs too so well done those firemen.  It's bad enough being burned out without having nightmares about your pets' demise.
