Hello folks. Glad you enjoyed your hols, Punkdoc - that beach looks gorgeous...
Great news re your SIL, LilyP. And respect to you, Yvie and family!
Had to stay in this morning because I was expecting a delivery, so I reluctantly got down to some tidying and cleaning. I must admit, it looks better...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
We have at least one meal out most days Lyn, and for the other meal we buy local and either eat it in the cottage or have a picnic ... but it's always locally bought food.
I've always done that ... when Wonky and her brother were little we used to camp on little camp sites often in mainland Europe ... then we took some cereals and tins of beans etc just to be on the safe side, but we don't just go places for the weather and the scenery ... we go for the whole experience ... we buy at local fishmongers and butchers and greengrocers and baker's shops too ... we avoid the big supermarkets if we possibly can.

I youth hosteled all over Europe in my teens and twenties and often stayed a few days in each place. Anyone who only stayed one night and moved on was called a b****y tourist. As PD was himself a tourist, I was aiming for irony. I clearly missed.
Same as @Dovefromabove, we bought all our food up in Scotland, plus ate out a fair bit. Not sure I have ever seen our garden so dry, and we have been here 25 years. The stream has dried up for the first time, normally it would be at least 4 inches deep. Fair few plant casualties, but fairly inevitable really. Have spent day with the hosepipe, but water pressure is very low.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Lovely OH has applied the vine weevil nematodes all over the Shady Bank and the Wilderness ......... now all I need to do is to keep it damp for a couple of weeks

Evening everyone. We had rain on/off for an hour this afternoon, just in the middle of my outdoor afternoon tea - ggrrrrr! We huddled under the parasol and managed to keep all the tea and cakes dry. I made apple sponge with maple buttercream filling and a zesty lemon cake (Granny’s recipe).
Poor Wonky was stuck in a traffic jam due to an accident ... no air con in the van and even with the windows open and a drink she was very uncomfortable and felt poorly ... she's been told to stay at home tomorrow.
She said she counted sixteen drops of rain!!!
