Hi Dove and Fairy. I’m still curled up inside. At least the wood heater does the job. I almost nodded off, but my conscience got the better of me, so I had a Ukelele practice. Sore finger tips as usual.
Hope you all have a good day ( including Hosta who might have a sunny drive around).

Hi Pat  :)  I spoke with my 'mother-in-law' about your sore fingers ... she said she suffered with them at first but the more you practice the tougher your fingers get so keep on keeping on  :D

I wonder if using surgical spirit or witch hazel on your finger tips would toughen them up, like ballet dancers used to do before going en pointe  (used to read about it in all the Ballet School books ... no idea if it worked or if they still do it).

Yes Dove, I used to use Methylated spirits when I was using toe shoes -70 years ago.😏
i think your MIL is right. Just need to toughen the tips up on my left hand fingers.
Thanks for asking her. I’m also struggling with the various rhythms. I find that I can move between chords  fairly well, and even sing along, but when I also try to use a particular rhythm, I lose it. 😳

    Where is everyone?
Good news - 6 of the boys are out of the cave. Just another 6 and their teacher to go.

That is wonderful news ... as someone posted somewhere ... not all heroes wear capes ... some wear wetsuits kneelkneelkneel

Thinking of the lads, their families and the rescue teams and medics  <3

I agree Dove. It’s been on my mind for days. The news have amended that number to 4, butwho can tell which is correct. There is so much mixed stuff coming out, that’s its impossible to tell.

    Hi everyone.
I do hope all those boys can escape - that is double nightmare for me: confined spaces plus underwater 😱

Popped to a garden centre today (mainly for the air con drive!) and they had loads of wilting plants at half price or less! Reckon I can salvage the Dahlia ‘Genova’ (below), and also bought a tray of African Daisies which I can make into a patio pot display.

My garden and I live in South Wales.

Golly gosh the ground here is dry as a bone ... a tall evergreen conifer behind the houses at the top of the rise is turning quite brown ... don't suppose that will recover  :o

Hi all. Heard the news on the radio, just before I got home, about the lads in the cave. Not ashamed to admit I had a few tears. What an effort by all those people. Fingers crossed the next lot manage to get out too.
That's pretty AuntyR. I keep saying I'll get a dahlia or two, but it's the overwintering. I wouldn't dare leave them inthe ground here, although now I have the little greenhouse, perhaps it's worth a shot.
Pat - when my sister played the guitar [in her yoof] she used something to harden her fingertips. I don't think she's back from her hols yet, but I'll try and remember to ask her when she comes home. It may well have been meths too.
My poor old country is looking so frazzled Dove. It's quite depressing - even if it means there's no bogs to trot through...
Had a nice little walk - a long way to go, but it let me have a good run in the car, and the views are great. Bit of air con for me too AuntyR  ;) There's a fancy cairn with all the hills named on it that you can see from there. It makes up a bit for the ugly transmitter that sits on top of the summit  ;)

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    That's rather good Fairy  B)

A tear or two shed here too .... apparently FIFA want to invite the boys to the World Cup Final if they're well enough ... it'd be good if the rescuers were invited too, although it's a huge team I'm sure they could find room for them.
