Only by understanding history do we stand a chance of not making the same mistakes over and over and over again  :'(

Only by understanding art and literature do we stand a chance of explaining the importance of history to those who don't get it  :'(

If they were to build the pyramids now they wouldn’t  sit down with pen and paper.

Possibly not ... but the fact that they, and other wonders of the ancient world, were built when they were, proves that the computer capable of the greatest creativity is still the human brain.

I don't think the conception of the pyramids is the great wonder, so much as the ability to manifest the project. The hundreds of thousands of slaves used to build the constructions over the centuries are the reason they exist as a concrete reality. Without them, the pyramids would have been great maths.

Typical brits! We get sun practically every day, our football team have made us proud, and best of all, the dry weather has kept the slugs at bay this year - and all you guys can do is find stuff to moan about. Well, I’m off to start a thread called ‘Reasons to be Cheerful’. I refuse to take part in this moan fest!!! Ya boo to all you grumpy types.
Typical English! Assuming your football team is of interest to the rest of Britain. :p
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
