It's rubbish when you have to empty an established pot. It's like that bare look you get when xmas decs come down.

It means feathered but does that refer to the foliage or the petals?   OH likes cosmos so I bought some wee plants for him last year and some have happily self seeded, fortunately the very deep pink almost crimson ones with darker foliage.    The white ones did indeed look tatty and the petals went brown very quickly as did the pale pink ones.

Feeling surprisingly good today but it's 30C in the shade already here with a light breeze and not humid.  No doubt I'll get grumpy later on when I start to drip as the temps climb.

It is a bit of a shock in peak season. I have a load of family coming to my place in the next few weeks after a funeral. I have loads to do but find myself fretting about hedge cutting and planters. I'm so peed off that I have hurt my back. image

That's a very un-curmudgeonly suggestion, Hosta...  (The canna, I mean.)

On a curmudgeonly note, Fire, you can bet your bottom dollar that if you fill your garden with drought-tolerant plants, next summer will be a wash-out.   ;)

It's a bit like when you ding the car by reversing into a post or summat. It makes you so cross at yourself. I did it lifting a heavy table last year. Stupid thing to do but it was in the way and OH was busy and I only moved it a couple of feet to the side. Meh.

I bought a dahlia Sam Hopkins from Sarah Raven this year. It's bright canary yellow. I've told it a few times that whatever it is, it isn't Sam Hopkins. It just sits there, being yellow. Grrrr

I'm taking the dog for a walk before it gets hot again. If you see someone stomping around the woods muttering with a three legged dog behind them, I suggest you keep out of range

Admittedly @Obelixx, I tend to avoid anything with bipinnatus on the label. I just didn't look - even when I was sowing them.
I got a small tray of cosmos that were a lovely dark dried blood colour a few years ago. I've never seen them since not even the seeds

Gorgeous isn't it.  My self sown ones are almost that dark.   Luscious.
