If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

@Picidae thank you for that, I now feel every sentence I write is being scrutinised for spellings, commas, takes the fun out of these threads.
    Never mind, plenty more.

Picidae fair enough I will write Woodpeckers, Wrynecks, Piculets, Instead of woodpeckers wrynecks and piculets in future.
I was trying to define the difference between writing Formal English as in essays and Informal writings between family and friends, they know I do like Cooking, do hate cats, though I still love my wife who passed away seven years ago.
My family are spread about I write on a regular basis often getting a flea in my ear for writing Engineering progress reports instead of informal letters.
In high school they tried hard to turn out boys who spoke in BBC voices and wrote exact English prose. They failed, they had also taught us to be independent thinkers and that is what we did. Why do some people in this life always believe they are right and try to impose their beliefs on others as if it is a religion. you may be upset by what you would consider slackness, in my case I consider it wasteful to use two rivets when one will do, the ship will not sink for lack of excess rivets.
Diven fash lassie, Cushy Butterfield did well with no formal education. She were a big lass and a bonny lass and she liked her beer she also knew the blue pencil version of Blaydon races. Good luck.
    Yours faithfully,
    Frank.

I do pretty much all the things Picidae complains about. Ho hum.
  • I do not usually talk to these people but this one riled me very quickly by refusing to accept that he had the wrong number. Eventually getting no information from me and being told I would only deal with my un named bank by post he put the phone down on me.

I checked my 2nd lemon today having cleaned it of scale insects last week and found new insects on the stems so will have to have another go tomorrow, now I have a new bottle of meths. Which I need to clean the inside of my aquarium prior to sealing a leak, the fish are happily living in a swing bin at the moment!

I can answer this one from experience.  If they're parents, especially if they're mothers, they know the little darlings can't get through a school day without calling them.  How did we manage?  Nothing ever happened in my school that wouldn't keep until I got home.  Come to think of it, nothing ever happened in my school.
  • You people are having a good time 😂 you haven't had the hosepipe ban - yet. I'm doing 2.5hrs watering a night now, with cans. Nothing dead yet (inc me) - except the grass/hay - it's only the first week... 😎😲👾
  • Btw, this was my way of saying, this is a gardeners' forum... not that I'm disagreeing with any of your grumbles, I'm a proud curmudgeon myself...

People who start a sentence with "Truthfully" or "Honestly"
Was what they said before, lies? If so, how do I know they're telling the truth now?
@Lyn , you come right back here and sit down! There are no threads like this one!
Please don't be intimidated about spelling  or punctuation on this thread. Any errors, if  even noticed, are blamed on predictive text or fat fingers.
Christine, feel free to discuss gardening. There are so many irritations with gardening, that we haven't even scratched the surface.
