Oh yeah - what was her name? It didn't go well for her, I think

    She was comprehensively debunked.
I particularly like this excerpt from her wikipedia page "One of the earliest criticisms focuses on [her] diploma in nutrition from American Association of Nutritional Consultants. In 2004, the same diploma was also awarded, upon application and payment, to Ben Goldacre's dead cat Henrietta"

Are we talking about (pretend ) Dr Gillian McKeef? I've never seen a better example of why folk shouldn't be vegan. She always looked ill.

No matter how bleak the wilderness, and how long they've been trekking through it, those men can always seem to get a good shave!
That’s because they’ve got one of those razers that shaves 5 times closer.

I'm NEVER getting stuck anywhere with you RG. We'd never get out.  :o
The problem starts when you have knowledge of the subject being portrayed on't telly. As a scientist of some repute (and many many many....years) I have never poured red or blue liquids from one flask to another.
    As for CSI...well.....
  • I have so many soap boxes to climb onto  to rant I am spoiled for choice.

My current one is against people who do not pick up their dog's poo when it is deposited a few inches from the Poo Bin! Grrhhh!

Apologies for the rather smelly topic in this heat.

I am another one who grew up grubbing in dirt, eating unwashed windfalls etc. etc. and seem to be pretty healthy nearing 80yrs old. My daughter is a micro biologist and she agrees, people are tooooo hygienic these days. Children's immune systems do not have the chance to build up their natural immune system with all of the anti bacterial products available. Another soap box for me!

Ridiculous isn't it. My GD is very relaxed with her 17 month old as they have dogs and horses and keeping her clean is impossible. She'd obviously been having a little taste of the contents of the coal scuttle the other day judging by the black grime all over her hands and face.  Well you have to try things out don't you.

I used to be fairly particular with my daughter until one day I caught her chewing her shoe.
She survived and I realised how stupid I was being and relaxed into sensible good hygiene mode.

Only just caught up so much to moan about- most does make me laugh though.
@Dovefromabove You must have been chatting to my wife she has been saying the same as you  for years.
"That's the problem with percentage pay rises ...  5% of a  salary of £15,000 gives you an additional £14.42 per week

5% of £150,000 is £7,500 that's half of some people's annual salary  (or an additional £144+ per week)

And the next percentage payrise means that the gap increases exponentially ... percentage payrises increase inequalities."

She works for the NHS in a clerical grade, she is expected to find staff willing to work for <£12,000 pa. She has effectively been on a pay freeze for nearly 10 years, they give 1% but as she is top of her scale it is not consolidated so at the end of the year it drops back, & guess what they get a new 1% again the next year, they call her an office manager but she (and thousands like her) certainly don't get "managerial grade" salaries- but we all know there are too many managers in the NHS don't we.  I was a laboratory scientist they took the pipette away gave me a pen & called me a manager, but there are "too many managers in the NHS" So I was made redundant & the job was downgraded 5 years later they  re-grade the jobs back up but all the experience has gone. This has been going on for the last 20 years- this is really why the NHS is in a mess all the experience is gone & the new breed can't cope with the demands because they are always looking over their shoulders wondering who is next to be got rid of.
