Please don't go Frank  :'(      aside from the possibility it will 'skew the demographic' on this forum I look forward to your posts. Would it be rude to say they remind me of my Grandad? I can't imagine feeling I have lived too long but I know I am going to continue to challenge others views with what time I have.

    Wow, that was curmudgeonly  ;)

Whatever thoughts you have about president Trump, he was over here representing of America, and I was embarressed by the people demonstrating.

I'm glad we live in a country where we're allowed to demonstrate.

I wasn't.   I was proud and I wish finances would have allowed me to be there.

Protest is a cornerstone of a democracy.   And if we can't hold our leaders to account then they are nothing more than dictators.

And besides, Trump doesn't represent America in any meaningful way.  His election win was fixed and he is in Putin's pocket.  He is not a real President, he's an abberation.

The only person Trump cares about is Trump.
I think it's a close call who is the more deceitful and dangerous between him and Putin.

As for the Baby Blimp, childish insults are really the only ones Trump understands.  And they are the only ones that hurt him.   Reason, logic, clever satire - straight over his head.

My ex and my son used to dance with the Molly Dancers, the faces were blacked up, it’s been a tradition since long before the slave trade. They are still dancing now.
We never thought of it as racist and there were a lot of black people who also loved it.

As a born and raised American, I am proud of the British people demonstrating against Trump.  He is our president, but he doesn't represent MY America.

@Lyn ... as I understand it the Molly Dancers are derived from 'Moorish' dancing by North Africans in Portugal and the tradition was taken to Cornwall and Devon and East Anglia too by Portuguese fishermen.  As you say it has nothing to do with slavery and its repercussions in America.

Often people don't understand that it has a different history and I think we should take care to explain this while being understanding of people's  sensitivities.

I’ve never heard of it in Devon or Cornwall, further up country.
tradition has it that they blacked up so that they wouldn’t be recognised as they were not supposed to be dancing and enjoying themselves.
