    @Fairygirl   I/we took out the golden hop 'cos it was invading NDN's garage and he worries about such things ... particularly now he's not mobile and can't see, only hear what's happening via his anxious daughter  ... so as we loved the splash of bright foliage in that corner we've put C. alpina 'Stolwijk Gold' in it's place and on the other side of the pergola is C. texensis 'Queen Mother'.   I've also put a cutting of Lon. Belgica on the fence  to the right of the Q. Mum.

    It's so funny, you know the Clem Daniel Deronda that I've been nurturing for years, trying to persuade him that he could do better if he tried?  Well, when he heard that the Queen Mum was going to live at the opposite end of the bed, DD just turned up his toes and withered away into a crumpled heap virtually overnight.   I've pulled him up and am hoping to replace him with C. vit. Betty Corning.  He's just a wuss and I have no patience with him.

    @Hostafan1 ... you're such a nag spank

    All right ... we'll go to the big nursery near MIL's and see if they've got one ... we might also keep our eyes open for a C. vit. Betty Corning  ;)

    Love that primula.  Tried it in several places in the old garden but it never came thru winter.  Bought 3 for this one and 2 have come thru winter.   Pleased.

    Another quick check in - hello. Hope everyone is OK and didn't get too battered by the storms. Nothing here except a bit of a breeze. And no rain. We need rain.

    Am surrounded by notes, coloured pencils, plant lists, highlighter pens and panicky scribbles. Revision is not going too well :(. As I said to my daughter, I'm old enough and wise enough to know that this exam malarky is no big deal, especially as I'm doing this for me rather than as a stepping stone to anything else. But I still want to do well and at current levels of knowledge / recall I'm not going to, dammit. Nothing's going in. I can't even remember stuff I knew before I did the course!

    Ho hum. Back to it.
