Methinks it's high time there was a BBC sports channel and leave those of us with no interest alone with the usual schedule.
How many times will GW be cancelled over the summer?
    Devon.

I'd happily trade no bananas for no dogs. At least the banana is "gardening".

Pdoc ... with my chest and your knees we might combine to make one useful gardener
    lol

BL I bet it all looks gorgeous ((hugs))   are we going to get some pics?

It all depends whether I can manage to post some on the Gallery. I still can't see most of the photos people post with this slow Internet, since the Forum changed. It's really spoilt things for me, I loved seeing people's photos and I liked the plant identification threads. Might have to wait until we go to Norfolk the end of the month.

    Afternoon all

Sorry to have been AWOL, but on top of all the family troubles, I’ve now got serious internet problems again as well.

At the  moment it’s working, but no idea how long that will last.

I saw that some of you seem to be as fond of football as I am,… I HATE it!

So glad The Netherlands aren’t in it!

I also seem to remember that a few of you like opera.

German TV station 3SAT aired Verdi’s opera Rigoletto a few days ago.

It’s the film of the opera made a few years ago on location in Mantua with Domingo, Grigolo, Novikova and quite a few other well-known names.

It’s still available on demand on the 3SAT website, but only until tomorrow.

    Here is the link. http://www.3sat.de/page/?source=/musik/184676/index.html

I’ve also found a site with the story of the opera.  That will make it easier to understand the story, if you don’t know it already. https://www.britannica.com/topic/Rigoletto

Lovely music, but then that’s always the case with Verdi!

I know that Russia is a bit of a difficult topic at the moment, but on Wednesday there was a big classical concert in the Red Square, with artists like Netrebko, Domingo, Juan Diego Flórez and others. Russian TV station RT showed the concert live, and they have put it on Youtube as well.

So in case you can’t find anything better to watch during the comingo weeks… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2X1oozTexX0

Hope to have the internet back and running again soon.

Have a lovely day, whatever you’re doing!

Good to see you kleipiper wave
Family and internet probs eh?   If only we could sort the family probs with a bit of re-booting and a new modem rolleyes

    Huge Domingo fan here kneel

@Hostafan1 .... very very tempted .... I have mentioned the idea to him and his eyes lit up .... I've a feeling he'd make room for it in the studio for the winter by chucking the cacti out. :o

By the way, I think MD said there'd be no GW cancellations for sport from hereon ... or did I imagine that  :/

That sounds good Kleipiper - the concert I mean, not your family issues, obviously. Hope you're ok.
Viva Verdi  - ' ye cannae whack 'im ' as we'd say here  ;)
I can't be ar*ed with footie either [having lived with two partners who loved it] but did anyone else think it was a fix up when Russia won....  :D
doc - I'll echo what the others have said. It's also easier to say things to people who we aren't 'too close to', if you know what I mean. Take it easy  :)
You and your bananas Hosta....what are you like?
What clems did you get Dove? I think I may have missed you saying.
It's settled down again here, although chilly. Barely double figures, although I think it's warming up a bit now. Lots of disruption all over Scotland - bridges closed, trees down etc.
The first Iris bloom opened on Wednesday just in time to get a pounding against the shell render. It's also left a lovely bluey/purple stain.... :D

Glad that this week's finished - hectic again. Need some lunch now....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Me too FG but I'm making do with a tisane of infused fresh ginger root.   Hope you get a good weekend to help forget the week you've just had.   You too KP.   I don't do operatic tenors and especially sopranos but will be watching the Classics awards on Sunday - ITV - as they have Andrea Bocelli on and I do love his voice.

Right, I've sorted all the fabric except the patchwork stuff.  Need a home for quilting wadding......  Took a stroll round the garden to see what's what and picked my first yellow courgette for dinner.  Pumpkins making an escape bid so I've pulled the shoots back and inside and up the wire fencing round the potager.

    Not the Xmas cacti Dove!
