We only used longbows on the day but nothing like as powerful as the Mary Rose examples. We started with basic short range shooting at a kitchen cupboard sized target then moved on to a series of longer range (up to 75 metres) hardback book sized targets. We finished off trying to hit an 8cm disk at 35 metres. I managed to split the 10cm wide plank it was attached to! It was a fun day out in perfect weather.

We’ve woken to a sunny cold morning. No rain or snow. The tree tops are whipping around, but otherwise no sign of the predicted weather. Can’t trust anyone nowadays.😏

Has anyone been able to open Joyce’s photo on page 56.  My iPad won’t let me do it.

I often make seafood pasta meals Dove. It’s my own recipe, but I always put a few anchovies in the olive oil to start the “sea foodie flavour”, then garlic and onions, tomato paste, thyme and parsley, pepper and a bit of dried chilli and after that start adding the various seafoods in order of which ones can be in the pot longer or shorter. At the end I add some water so that there’s enough sauce to swish the pasta around in.

    Hi all.

Woke up in middle of the night feeling very breathless, been sitting here, hoping it will ease, if not I suppose a trip to A@E will be necessary.
