I think it's to hang onto the higher hills Joyce, but I might nip up to R&BThankful or something. Glad you had a nice run in the car Have you had any rain in the last few weeks? Apart from the overnight spell a few weeks ago, we've had virtually zero. Grass is parched!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Rain......what's that Fairy? Front grass is brown with the odd patch of green. Hope Loch Lomond traffic not too busy. I was surprised at the amount of early morning traffic when I was out.
That's the only problem with going later Joyce - at this time of year. Traffic! I'm used to it I suppose, but it can be frustrating The kids stop school soon - the rain will start then

Misty here. Off into town, to buy books to read during all those hot summer days. OH will be cutting the lawns, as this is another job which is beyond me at the moment.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Morning all, plenty rain here yesterday Fairy and Joyce, about three hours worth, just what we needed. Sorry you didn’t get to share. My peonies had the umbrella device to save them😄 I am so far back and have tried to catch up, it’s almost daunting to attempt to join in but here goes Dove heard about you having some shakes, glad all’s well and you slept through it LG I am sorry for all migraine sufferers , horrid things hope it’s gone and you got revision all done 🤞 Punk always knew you were an important chap! Enjoy some well deserved glory, even if you have been there before😉 Joyce, what a good idea to go out before the crowds, is the mist lifting? Fairy have a good day, yes, agree about the rain. Happens every year poor kids. My son and his family coming up to go to St A s for a week and guess what the forecast is?! Hosta, take it easy, how are you? Have you had the hospital app yet? Was it May or June? Pat I remember when living in Oz being constantly amazed at familiar names cropping up all over the country, even more so in New Zealand
now I really need to catch up have a good day everyone

Might be a day for watching the triathlon on telly if it stays cloudy, aside from CFS, GW & Beechgrove I don't think I have watched any telly for over a month (no point when it is nice out).
It is quite nice though tbf; warm enough that pensioners wont freeze yet cool enough they wont melt, perfect cardigan weather for 'em. hehe
Hello everyone. We've had rain overnight - 5mm - just enough for Minstrel to come in announcing t the world at 3am that she was WET!! Vocal pussycat. Cosmos sensibly slept on our bed all night and stayed warm and dry.
OH is out raking up the long grass he has strimmed from my future trees and shrubs zone and piling it in the potager ready to mulch the squash beds when we've had some more rain and done more weeding of bl**dy bindweed. Even when we dig it all out to a spade's depth it's back again in just a few days and was growing very nicely thank you under the layers of cardboard in the PT. Horrid stuff.
Asked him to clear a couple of squares of the grass so I can make planting holes for trees and he pleaded bad back. Wants to wait till tomorrow when he can use his new machine to make holes. His under-gardener lessons clearly haven't included large, square, competition free planting and thinks he needs to drill deep. I shall find another way while he's off oop north.
Pat - those kids are amazing but I like my salsa a bit less frenetic. Hosta - hope you get a good route and you get a hill FG. LP - peony umbrellas? Dove - pics please. Chosen a clem yet? I'm very pleased with I am Happy. She's doing well in her new spot.
Greetings to everyone not mentioned in person. Hope you all have a lovely Sunday.

Re pergola ... Quick set concrete has been purchased and will be applied to postholes shortly.
Re climbers for pergola ... radical action has been taken ... golden hop was found to have ambitions to take over next door's garage roof ... he's a lovely old chap and worries about such things as he is now unable to do anything other than watch the telly (and he can't see that very well) so golden hop has been dug out.
hi folks, hope all of you are enjoying the weekend. OH is preparing the ground for a summer house but has called me over to discuss tree roots which are going to be under it. Expect I will loose the tree. Ive put a new thread on if any one has any experience, comments or advice, or just for a nosey. As for me, I was painting the outdoor trellises etc and trying to get on with some gardening but not happening very fast, coffee has just arrived.

We liked the bright foliage in that area and are almost decided upon Clematis alpina Stolwijk Gold http://www.taylorsclematis.co.uk/clematis-stolwijk-gold.html on that side of the pergola, allowing it to spread to the nearby fence as well.
Under consideration for the other side of the pergola is Clematis texensis Queen Mother

Anyone any experience of either?
We like the I am Happy, but it's very similar to C. vit. Astra Nova, which we have nearby.
