Hello all, Warm here, humid even, but some very heavy rain showers. Garden is loving it, innit so sure. Weeds grow fast too in this climate. Sugar bowls and outdoor cushions are in and out all the time, don't know what to do with ourselves, customers playing musical chairs on the terrace dodging the showers.

Maybe you need sugar bowls with lids, DD... I remember my grandmother's, with a little hole for the sugar spoon to poke out.
Best wishes to the Thumb, Obelixx. Glad it's no longer stopping you doing what you want. My cut finger is stuck together ok, but irritatingly numb at the end, and painful when pressed. As my grandmother would have said, "That'll larn yer!" I'm treating my kitchen knives with greater respect these days... they were originally sold with the slogan "The sharpest knife you've ever tried - or your money back!"... I won't be trying to return them...
While the roofers still need cups of tea etc, I'm trying to do a few things outside, including finding homes for the large surplus bits of roof stones which they've discarded. They've nearly finished (at last!). There's a bit of "making good" needed round the new Velux, and a spot of plastering, but they're aiming to finish the ridge today.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Don't think I popped in yesterday. We went to the Grand Frais greengrocer for fruit and veg, fridge was bare, then lunched at the Wok place as I was going to be out last night, gardening club meeting and quiz. A good friend who I used to go riding with came round in the afternoon. Hadn't seen her for a bit, they went off in their camper van for the winter, to warmer climes.
Came 3rd in the garden club quiz, but only 4 teams. It was in several sections, we were first by some way in the classic sort of gardening questions quiz, first in the plant identification section, middle in the garden word game but only got 4 out of 15 garden logo section so that lost it all for us. I haven't a clue about logos but did get the RHS one and the John Deere one, no idea about the French ones. Quite fun though and there was a glass of wine.
Been doing lots of publicity for my Open Garden, taken posters to the bigger nearby village, sent off emails and an ad to the English advertising Google Group. Then needed to get on with the weeding, garden very wet, so is the washing, from the downpour yesterday afternoon.
Went outside to garden as sun came out, pruned grapevine, got rid of a bramble and some goosegrass, planted up 2 pots on garden side terrace and rain then tipped down. Spent less than an hour outside, drat it.
Have made an orange drizzle cake to put in the freezer for the Open Day. Rain stopped, off outside again to attempt more weeding.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hi we keep warm by adding a extra jumper and a knee blanket, very few houses of the age of ours put fireplaces in. Still no rain but sunny today but now its dark. BL your orange drizzle sounds very nice, and Pdoc take it slowly.
Cheers all, enjoying an apéro on my terrace in the sunshine, been a long day and not over yet, evening meals to do shortly. Coach party of 22 tomorrow as well to prepare for, but grabbing a moment. 😁

I came in form my morning potter just at the right time as it has peed down on and off all afternoon including making visibility difficult as I drove to a Roche for my driving lesson. I can now use my overlocker in all sorts of different ways tho I don't see me using the special lace attaching foot. Not my thing.
Home
via a garden centre cos we’ve decided we need something serious to deal with
constant weeds in the gravel in the drive and something else for all the
buttercups, bindweed, mallow and docks in the potager. It turns out
we can get glyphosate products still but no more SBK stuff which is most
confusing. Thought France had banned glyphosate completely.
Tomorrow is supposed to be dry and even sunny so that’s me busy for the morning
and then planting afterwards because, of course, I found some alstromerias and
some mimulus I liked for gaps in the new beds.
Yet another proof-reading session when I got back and now OH is waiting for the downpour to stop so he can walk the dogs before dinner.
Glad you got some holes dug Pdoc and hop it hasn't wiped you out. Good for you too Joyce. Apart form tomorrow our forecast is pretty grey and damp for the next few days so good luck with our garden preps DD and Busy. I can't do logos either. In fact I actively look for clothes, shoes, trainers etc that aren't covered with the blasted things and look at function rather than logo for machines.
Glenys - our house has a log burner in the living room with a chimney exit that goes horizontally out the back, thru the wall and then up an external metal chimney. May be a solution for you for winters to come. Can do a pic or two if you like. We do rugs too.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Hello all I'm back after a lovely day with my son ... what glorious weather ... not a lot of time for photography as we dashed about a fair bit ... time with mum was being slotted in between a couple of things he had to do on his first day off for ages ... but I did grab a few shots on my iPhone which I'll post in a bit ... OH has my supper ready ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Evening. What a hive of busy bees you all are today. Had lunch (well, cake) at local nursery/garden centre and been pottering in garden this afternoon. Astrantia and Centaurea sent to intensive care, as been slugged! Such a lovely evening - supper outside I think.
