Morning all . I slept for 10 hours last night. Hurraaaaaah. I'm most certainly not complaining, but I wish it would even itself out a bit. It's looking like a nice day so methinks I'll be hitting the sun bed at some point.
Good morning. A bit grey and misty and damp feeling ere but not actually raining. Was up till 1:30 proofing the latest version of her thesis which gets a new chapter every day... so I'm feeling a bit like the weather.
The thumb is now back to normal size thanks LP but still a bit pink and rather ragged where I've prodded. Looks like the offending article has come out in all the gunk cos there's no sign of it now. Good job it's better as I have a driving lesson this pm - learning to use my new Overlocker. I bought it in Belgium but missed the training session cos of the move.
I hope all those who need rain get some but I'd like some proper sun for a day or two.
I'm off to check my babies and latest plantings. Have a good day everyone and may the light be good for pics Dove.

@Obelixx ... I have known splinters to decompose and disappear into the gunk
@Hostafan1 ... they were gorgeous .... I was once in the bedroom of a thatched Suffolk farmhouse when ducklings started plummeting past the window ... a mallard duck had nested on the roof! The little ones dropped into the delphiniums and reappeared marching smartly behind mum as she led them to the pond in the farmyard
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
My own little springwatch here consists of 2 families of Canada Geese: one with 3 babies and the other with 5. Mrs Mallard ( the one who had 11 ) now has 6 and the other Mrs Mallard has 3. The baby coots at too skittish to be able to count, but there are a few of them dotted around. For the first time , we've got greenfinches here ,and this morning the fledglings are beneath the bird feeders being fed. Lots of other fledglings, robins, dunnocks and sparrows. Mrs Blackbird is still hoovering up worms and the blue tits have left the box.
I have done nearly four hours pruning, weeding and watering. Now wabbit with the heat and going to have a long rest. Garden bin goes out tomorrow night for it's monthly collection so that spurs one on to get the work done.
