Ahh just seen two little mice in the garden - on the lawn and not at all scared of us.

    Afties/evening - ish all.
Just about hanging on to our bits and pieces here. I've had quite a bit of damage to plants, but it could be worse. Such is life. Our 'farm road' was completely green this morning with all the branches on it. Thankfully, they removed all the lower branches on those trees just before a previous storm.
I took your advice LP, and cut a few peonies for the house! The rest of the stems aren't too bad as I propped them up a bit more.
They played that song recently on the radio doc [John Martyn] Lovely pic - I could live in that quite happily too, as long as it was in the right place  ;)
Glad your clems have arrived safely Dove.
Have you got a bow in it Hosta? I can send you some ribbon.... :D
The catalogue of errors re Grenfell is disgraceful. I thought we lived in the 21stC not the 14th.
I've just read about the vandalism to those beautiful 'tors' in Yorkshire. What the **** is wrong with people?
    Nearly Friday.....

Afternoon folks,  Storm missed us but it was a bit windy, just a delphimium and a foxglove blown over, everything else fine.  Think we had some rain in the night though.
Been to Gardener's World today, not very impressed at all.  Went a few years ago and it was much better then.  I'd seen it all after a couple of hours. Definitely wont be going again.

Grenfell = greed, arrogance, wilful ignorance and hubris.  It's a national disgrace .... I could go on and on and on ...

Glad most people's gardens seem to be fairly ok ... storms when trees are in full leaf are so scary.

Our supper was absolutely fandabidozi ... I will make it again  https://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/recipes/11776087/Rick-Steins-seafood-linguine-recipe.html   :D

Hey everyone. After a blustery night, the day improved and now the sky is blue. Couple of Sunflowers bit blown about and a tea towel in the middle of the lawn (?) but ok otherwise. Hope everyone faired ok.

I Started pruning my Phormiums as they were becoming a bit wild - I use a scissors. I did half of one and my back was cramping so the rest can wait until the weekend. Potted on some tumbling tomato plants -so they can be Father’s Day gifts.

Had early supper -pork snitzel, sweetcorn fritters and salad - rather yum 😋
Will have a wander outside and water pots now.

Glad everyone seems to have survived the storm.
I was thinking how wonderful that house would be, somewhere like Applecross or Torridon, fg.
Grenfell was a classic example, of what happens when Capitalism goes wrong. I stopped believing Communism would work in my early 20's, but unless we have caring Capitalism, things like this will continue to happen

Looks good.  I shall have to save it for a Possum free meal later on in the year tho as she doesn't do mussels any more which is odd as i Italy her favourite dish as a child was always spaghetti al scoglio.   I fancy that blue fish dish too.

Low fat chicken curry for me with salad.  Thinking thin (some hope) while OH is away.

Dogs have had walkies and dinner and are now flaked out so I shall go and sort more fabric....

@Obelixx we used clams as there were no local mussels on the fish stall at the market.

Went on a longbow experience day yesterday, re-living Agincourt and the rest of the Hundred Years War. The coach regaled us with lots of stories of medieval archers including the onset of dysentry following the consumption of shellfish at Harfleur 🤢.

They should have gone to Honfleur - much prettier!  Did you get to play with a longbow?

Clams would do Dove.   Tried her on crab in January.  Not keen but I suspect that's cos it's messy.  Doesn't like prawns with shells on - lazy madam!  We all love spaghetti vongole now that we have fresh clams available.

Fabrics nearly all sorted but I had to stop cos the kitties came to help and then the dogs came too.  Mad lot.   We have rain which wasn't forecast.

Pdoc - Grenfell tower is council owned.  The problem seems to be bad management, bad planning and bad quality control combined with a drive to push down costs to the council and maximise profits to the suppliers.  I don't think that's a problem with Capitalism so much as people not being valued and considered not to be worthy of decent standard of housing and that's true across many Labour held boroughs and councils too.   Needs to be a sea change in attitudes to social housing and funding and the taxes to pay for it.
