Absolutely gorgeous here today. Sweat pouring out me and all I was doing was dismantling a pallet.......which was a waste of time as 'measure by eye and cut twice' is never gonna get results when building stuff.
Took my bird box down and counted five little feathered chicks, dug a hole below my tree and popped them and their nest in it before cleaning out the box. It didn't half smell. The little nest was impressive I have to say, hopefully better luck next year.
Bratwurst and salad tonight methinks.......reckon I'll be buying a planter for salad crops now, after todays tragic attempt....
Hi folks, a beautiful day here. Just come in from the garden for a cool down. Took me ages to deadhead this morning. Got lots of duck weed out of the pond and thinned out the water soldiers again. Still have loads of tadpoles swimming around with no sign of changing to frogs. How long do they normally take.
It's been a bit noisy outside today. A man came to mend next doors fence as their daughter (just passed her test) reversed down the drive into the concrete post and we have loads of aircraft flying over for the Cosford airshow. Spitfire, Hurricane, huge transporter plane and chinook helicopter to name just a few. Caught myself huming the theme to 633 Squadron at one point.
Congratulations to Monty and our very own P'doc. It's nice to get recognition for the work you do.
I'm assuming Wonky is now out of the purple dressing gown and hard at work in the garden.
Sorry about the rats Hosta, vile creatures.
Hope Dove's workman sorts out his screws.
Now I know I've missed loads but the brain is a bit fuzzy today, Oh yes migraines. Hope it's easing off (can't remember who had one now, was it Liri?) awful things I get them occasionally complete with flashing lights, loss of vision and terrible pain.
Horrible job burying the birdies, hope you get better luck next year BG.
Apologies to anyone I've forgotten. Quick cuppa then back in the garden.
Mouse has stopped play. When taking off the last of the cardboard to finish forking and planting the tomato side of the PT I disturbed a wee mousey and it turns out she has made a nest under it with about 5, bald, pink, wriggly babies so I've covered it up again and will leave her alone to come and find them again.
Meanwhile, Bonzo dog has taken to running into the pond to cool off but then gets so excited he gallops round the garden, thus defeating the object. Daft Labrador.
Chicky - sounds like you're having fun too.
Hope the migraines stay away LG - not good. Had bad ones in my younger days following a pneumonia virus with freebies when I was 16 - coma, meningitis and encephalitis all at once so brain squished from all directions. I just get the visual disturbances now but it's still wearing and means I can't drive till it goes.
Yvie - OH's rugby club organised a tour, including wives and girlfriends, to Barbados at Easter 1983 - coincided with the Falklands war and the pilot announcing at take-off that the Belgrano had been sunk so the entire team started singing the Dam Busters.... Had the rest of the plane in stitches tho.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Have weeded out a gazillion verbena bonariensis seedlings. Good job I love 'em. Planted out the courgettes (for the foxes to dig up and the snails to eat), replanted the chives the foxes had dug up and sowed some more runner beans to replace the ones that the foxes had bitten off... are you sensing a theme? Cubs do like to bite, dig and chew stuff.
No more revision tonight except getting OH to test me on some of my plant list.
Obelixx your pneumonia with freebies sounds horrendous! Your poor parents. And poor you too of course - but I guess you weren't aware of what was happening?
Yvie and Chicky it sounds like you're both doing well in your gardens. Virtual tours would be good...

Morning Hosta.Hope you have a decent day for driving. Misty here although meant to clear. We had all the thunder yesterday for hours, but still no rain. Glad I wasn't on the A9 though .... That sounds very unpleasant Obelixx. Do you get a warning that it's coming if you need to drive? Not so handy if it came on suddenly and you were out on your own None of my Verb. bons seeded last year and the parent plants were all dead before the end of last year. I didn't get round to sowing more seeds, but might get some for next year if I remember.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Looks like a glorious day and I'm at the coal face all day.
Fingers crossed for a nice coastal route.
