    Nice story Hosta  :)
I opened the curtains this morning and a little blue tit was trying to work out how to get from the apple tree box, down into the pond. It took a minute or two, but he/she eventually figured it out and hopped down to the shallows for a drink and a bath. Those little moments are priceless   :)
Wonks and LP - getting the car tomorrow. Qashqai - ideal for little glen roads in winter etc.  :) Hope your hubby is on the mend a bit. x
30 degrees when I came home from work Joyce. The garden may well have been hotter, but the gauge I have is often about 2 degrees out. It said the highest temp was just over 30 though. I thought about running through the water scarecrow to cool down. We were sweltering at work - fortunately my colleague remembered her Dad had brought an air conditioning unit up to the workshop, so she set it up and we fought over who got to stand in front of it - wafting a draught up our tops. Just as well no customers came in!  :D
I was admiring Pat's socks - I've never been a knitter, although my Mum was. I meant to comment on her lovely cardies that she did too - very impressive.
My little greenhouse has arrived - so I think daughter is going to come and help set it up. We may not get far....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

No water in our hose whatsoever! Not much in the taps either.

38.5C this pm and a strong breeze so way too hot and dry for walkies.   We've played while I've gone round watering everything so they're not short of exercise.  In fact they run more in the garden than on walkies at the mo.   Lots of thirsty insects about again all thinking I'm a drinking fountain.

I have been naughty and put the sprinkler on the outdoor tomatoes, Charlottes and corn.   Don't tell OH.

Good to see you Wonky.  I always think Alfa Romeos are rust buckets and not for northern climes.  Glad OH is feeling a bit better.

FG - have fun with your greenhouse.

I hope everyone's coping and can get a good sleep in the heat.  Set to be warm here tonight.

Ha!  Have just watched Beechgrove and they're off air for two weeks cos of bloody tennis!  We've still got two weeks of football haven't we and this area will be heaving with the Tour de France going past twice on the 6th and 7th.  Humph, humph and humph!

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

    Evening all.

Many happy returns to Mr LG.  Hope the concert has gone well too - nice way to spend a birthday evening...

There's now a second moorland fire near Manchester; the smoke has apparently spread as far as Liverpool.  We're to the East so aren't affected - though there's plenty of tinder-dry moorland around here too, so we're holding our breath, and hoping the idiots who drop cigarette ends aren't tempted to go for a country walk.

Only mid-20s here today, thank goodness.  The park volunteers spent the morning cleaning up the cobbles in the coach yard, one of the few bits of the big old house which remain.  (It belonged to a 19th century mill owner, but was demolished early last century due to dry rot.)  The coach yard is supposed to be the start of the heritage trail but looks a bit sad at present.  We have plans for some big planters, once the tidying is complete.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Littlest chicklet arrived safely .....and breathe 🤪. Hope my girls have a fab time together exploring Chicklet’s favourite Aussie spots.  Not sure how she is going to settle back into the delights of a Nottingham climate....although atm its way hotter than Australia 🇦🇺.

Sprinkler been going all evening here.  Very excited that my flower shy dierama is finally producing 😇 fishing rods of stunnng magenta .....well worth the 5 year wait.

nearly bedtime here ....one more day til the weekend 🎉

Hi everyone. Just emerging but still feeling lazy in my warm bedroom.
i can see a cloudless sky through the curtains, so might be a washing day.

My sister’s birthday today, so must remember to give her a call. She’ll be 83.

Re cataracts - I had both eyes done when we were in Melbourne. Can’t think which year but must be about 15 years ago. Very successful.

Hosta, what is a slow worm?

Im glad your chicklet has arrived in Adelaide, Chicky, and also congrats on the new car Fairy. Wonky, I hope your OH continues to improve. Can’t remember what else.
Hope you all get some relief from the heat. Oh yes, the moorland Fire - sound bad. Did anyone see the Greece floods on TV. How come they are getting all the rain. It’s time itvwas spread around the globe more evenly!

    Night all.
