Good afternoon (nearly evening) everyone  :) Another busy day again.
@nultyphilip224, l shall have to have a go at propagating my foxgloves like that, something new to try. Haven't seen that before.
I think Mouse is eating it all, then going back and telling Hedgehog that there was no food ! Didn't see either of them on the camera last night, must admit l am getting a bit concerned about Hedgehog. The forecast heading towards Easter and beyond shows temperatures rising to around the 15 degrees mark and steadying with no frosts, so l am hoping he will return.
@Valley Gardener, sorry to hear you are feeling so rough and that your OH has caught it too. Hopefully your daughter will have left before she caught it. All you can do is take it easy and let things take their course
@Fran IOM Glad you are having a productive time, it's always nice when you can see the fruits of your labours ! Sometimes I come in from the garden and although I know l have done quite a lot,  when l look out of the window it doesn't seem any different!
@Purplerain, l had "Short and sassy" as well. When l said to my darling husband "Like me", he said (please excuse the language) "Don't you mean short arsed and gobby ?". I can't see the RHS giving an award of merit to a plant with that name, somehow.
We are doing some work in mother in law's garden this weekend. Rest assured l will not be bringing back any plants unless it's to put them in the green waste bin. Every time l walk past the coldframes l imagine l can hear the sound of chomping. l have become paranoid!
Called in at the hedgehog rescue this morning,  they are releasing as many as possible back to the areas/gardens that they came from. Six were due to taste freedom today. The lady that runs it told me that the males in particular get very stressed if they are fit to be released and are still in "captivity" at this time of year, due to "hormones" aka "thoughts of luurve". This causes their spines to fall out.
Fact of the day for you there.
Hope everyone has a good weekend !  :)

Morning everyone,  hope all is well and that @Valley Gardener and OH are feeling much better. Have spent most of the night dreaming about digging out Spanish bluebells,  so am shattered before l even start !
The sun is shining anyway even though it's chilly, and l can see Mr B sitting on the neighbour's roof waiting for his breakfast. No peace even lying in bed......
Hope you all have a good day.  :)
  • Ohhh! 😣 I'm envying you all. Still no better, they say don't bother the doc for anibis, but at what point is too much?  As I wash up by the kitchen window I can see so much I want to get my hands on!
I spotted the bee house hubby made before all this,it's sitting on the wall near where we saw the cutters going in last year. Hes put a rubberized material on the roof,so just to interfere i'm planning pieces of thin slate on top stuck with Gorilla glue.    Ah well  can dream.
    Enjoy your day all.😊

Morning all. No Philip??? Where can he be 😀.

I laughed at your short arsed and gobby Helenium @AnniD and now I know I won't see mine any other way. I will have a gentle affection for it after that lol.

@Valley Gardener sorry you still feel bad. My daughter has had tonsilitis all her life and always nipped it in the bud with antibiotics. The doctor wouldn't give them to her last time, and to cut a long story short, she ended up being taken to hospital by ambulance and nearly died. The doctor apologised and she can have them now if she needs them. I am not saying this is likely to happen to you, but if you feel so bad then get on to the doctor as soon as you can.

I have a few things to do so will pop in later. I really just came on to say get to the doctor VG.

"Honestly Hedgehog, I looked, and there was no food"

    Earlier.....

Can you see his cheeks bulging ?
  • @Purplerain that's dreadful! I seem to get this every year,at about this time, last year felt as if I was dying, breath rattling etc, went to A+E it was that bad,all they said was virus! But they gave me antibis which they said wouldn't work! However it took three weeks to go,and this feels the same.i'm worried for hubby as he has a dodgy heart.
We're both just staying in the warm and dosing up on the various remedies. Fortunately the freezers are stocked up. But yes, we won't hesitate to call the doc if it worstens.Had a shower, which is an improvement on yesterday when we went back to bed!
Daughter texted thismorning......has bad throat!!! Grrrr!

@AnniD I love the pics of little mouse on his own,his cheeks do look stuffed, cheeky little thing,I hope the Hog soon returns.

    Good Morning all.
@AnniD Not many people can make me laugh at this time of the day but you certainly did with your photos of Mouse and your comments! Think you have talents other than gardening. It's a lot chillier here as well even though the sun is shining. Hope Mr B has had his breakfast. One thing about having an allotment and not a garden is the fact that when you next go over after having done loads of weeding you notice the difference straight away rather than looking out of the window and wondering what you had done.
@Valley Gardener. Oh dear you do sound bad. Do hope you will soon get over the worst but when you are feeling ill there is no way you could get to a doctors. It's hard to know what to do. Hope OH may have a milder attack so he is able to help you. You must be feeling frustrated that you can't get out into the garden. Get well soon.
@Purplerain  I was wondering where Philip was as well. Hope he hasn't gone down with the same as Valley Gardener. How lucky you were to get your daughter to hospital but it should never have happened in the first place.

No doubt I shall be able to do some more weeding later today after having completed the other usual tasks.

    Have a good Saturday.

@Valley Gardener You must have been posting at the same time as me. So sorry your daughter has gone down with it as well. Keep warm and don't leave it too long before you contact your doctor.

Good evening all. Somewhat cream crackered if l'm honest.
@Valley Gardener hope you are feeling better, if you and OH are the same by Monday, l would get in touch with your doctor. You can't be too careful where hearts are concerned, don't be fobbed off.
@Fran IOM thank you for your kind words. I don't know if you can really tell from the photo, but on the video his little cheeks were really bulging, he looked like a hamster !
@Purplerain hope you got everything done, l noticed Philip was not around as well. Hopefully things are okay, sometimes life gets in the way. (A touch of poetry there).
I have posted on the Anyone done any gardening today thread, l think if l typed it out again, it would finish me off, but suffice to say the bluebells have gone (well, almost). MIL's first words to me were "You can cut back, pull out whatever you like". That's lucky, l thought. "Oh right, l thought I'd get those bluebells out" "Oh, but they have just started flowering" she says.  "Tell you what, when your son has finished,  l will put a few back ". The great art of compromise!  They came out quite easily actually,  we found a whole lot of rockery stones underneath so you can imagine how many year's worth were there !
Hope everyone had a reasonable day, at least. Off to put the scampi and chips in the oven, l am starving!  :)
  • Hi Folks,..as you noticed i was AWOL yesterday,..i was invited to a dinner,..supposed to be just six people and myself making up seven,..i get this answer every year and laugh to myself,..i never comment on this to the others,.. because as we sat down there were seven people and myself making it an even eight people,..its obvious to me what the good intended person who makes the arrangements is up to,..when its time to get out on the floor to dance its hilarious to me as there will be just me and that someone else,..i don't mind as i will dance with anyone,..i even felt sorry for a Nun on one occasion and asked her to dance as all the men were not inclined to do so,..she was fun to dance with i even joked saying that i was enjoying myself and could make a Habit of it,..to make a long story short,..a good time was had by all,..it all came to an end in the early hours of this morning.

@Valley Gardener ,..i was hoping for better results about your bout of illness alas i see your OH has now caught the Virus,..plus your Daughter,..i wonder just where did you pick it up,..i suppose we all try figure that out,..its bad when the two of you are down with this bout as one can look after the other when only one has the bug,..get well soon,..both of you.

@Fran IOM,..i think the reason the Virginia Creeper reminds you of Victorian Times is that most of the big Estate Houses had it growing on their houses.

So you were having problems with your TV,..OH decided to get a new one,..nice to hear,..but how is your Laptop running and who does the maintenance on it,..cleaning the junk to speed things up?,..a person could crack up when the internet can not be reached lol.

Oh you mentioned your ''Cornus'',..i have a long way to go before mine starts taking up room,..it was a cutting from a friend in Gardenersworld,..lots of new growth on it.

@Purplerain ,..progress being made at your place with the Lupins and Penstemons moved out and your Peas moved in,..oh and top marks for taking the Erysimum cuttings and you were happy doing them as well,..when they start growing you will be over the moon,..making your own plants.

Hedgehogs have not arrived with the entire family,..just the two youngsters,..then one adult,..i would like to see the whole family on a night out.

    Short and Sassy lol.

@AnniD ,..well captured images of Mouse and look at those cheeks puffed out,..must be a mouthful,..lol at Mouse eating all the food and reporting back to Hedgehog,..there wasn't any food,..i hope its just that Hedgehog has got lazy and remains in bed and is depending on Mouse to give the word,..either that or Hedgehog is feeling amorous and has gone to some Hedgehog Club hoping to meet someone.

    My night visitor.
