Home from allotment heeled and watered in all the Russian Sage plants also gave them a hair cut, watered plants in the poly tunnel and general clearing of the last of the rubbish.

A lovely day after a chilly start. Been building a Hedgehog House...my neice can help me finish it on weekend. When I moved an old pallet to use - a frog jumped out!
You have been very productive @Valley Gardener I haven't bought tulips yet, never mind planted the other stuff. I always think bulb planning is fun with the bare soil in the spring but come autumn everything's covered in plants and I don't want to bother the flowers/caterpillars/spiders and I grind to a halt.
I did plant some bulbs today but only ones I dug up while couch-grassing. My triangle bed is infested with it, I cleared a couple of patches today but it'll be back. In one of the un-couched bits I planted two persicaria, thought they were the same plant I'd accidentally split but now think it's part of Amethyst and all of Dikke Floss who hasn't grown much since purchase.
In the other patch I moved in what I hope are an orange and a red oriental poppy. I'd drawn a diagram of which colours were which in the front garden but wasn't so easy to decipher now they're all brown sticks. Also planted one of two new Molinia I recently had delivered. Trying to create an unobtrusive screen mid flower bed due to the houses overlooking from the side.
Planted a bugle, the second of its kind. I've killed 3 previous bugles planting them overwinter in part shade. The last one has done well baked in clay in full sun, so am hoping the ground is still warm enough for this new one to get settled in.
@Victoria Sponge I did have to pull out one or two still flowering bedding plants, but I'm always worried the good weather won't last! I was very late with bulbs last year as we moved here a week into Oct. I was determined to get the tulips I wanted, short lived, but I love them! So just those left to go in later.
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
Did most of my Bulbs at home yesterday (except Tulips) today was on Allotments, had not planned it but rented society rotavator to bash through a couple of patches where crops had been cleared. The rain at the weekend helped a lot but it is still dry underneath. Might give Green manure another go this year.
All i managed to do is rake the leaves off the lawn ,pull up all weeds , swepted the yard and patio at the back of garden tomorrow dig all sides and back
I planted a lovely new dwarf holly I bought yesterday from an independent nursery near Shepton Mallet - smallish dark green leaves with a red edge. It's a ball shape, planted in front of a big grass stipa gigantica so I'm hoping it will make a good contrast in the winter. Then we emptied out the old leaf bin and bagged up the contents temporarily, putting in another builders bag in its place for this year's leaves. The hedge roots kept coming up in the leaf bin so I'm hoping the bag might stop that.
