Today I replanted under the kitchen window. Can't remember what was there before, must have lost interest and moved it. Added two salvia nemorosa I got off the bargain shelf at B&Q. I have one outstanding purple one and have had half a dozen 'meh' or dead so will see how they get on. Also added some new oriental poppies and persicaria Lisan, another new requisition, and two francoa sonchifolia from elsewhere in the garden. Planted 3 more bulbs there too, alliums called Beau Regard.
Planted up the far side of the pond, a full sun bank. Changed it 10 times in the past 6 years, it's never looked good. Now it has four different tufts of ornamental grass and a line of what I assume is a native grass grown from seed I found at my allotment. Hopefully it's Yorkshire Fog, previous lot drowned last winter, a wide blade summer flowering one anyway. Also got a few sweet marjoram, can't decide if I like them or not. Might see if they'll live on the high part of the pond beach.
Added a new stepping stone to the lawn and shuffled a few to make it even. Used the divots to plug some bare patches.
Added two roses back on my wish list, now back at 12.
Feeling very virtuous, having finally tidied up the storage area behind the shed (where the compost heaps etc live). I'd been putting it off... also weeded the raspberries and the veg beds. Not a warm day but it stayed dry.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Been in the garden this morning dug out twelve Russian sage and bagged up (I need the space for new roses) just in for a coffee then its off to the allotment to get them temporarily heeled in ready to plant out later on.

More bulb planting, potted on some rooted cuttings (salvias and osteospermum) and cut back the very tatty mildewy acanthus. It's got new growth coming up so it'll look OK again in a week or two. It's a bit chilly out there but the sun's shining.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
After two days of damp/wet weather we finally got out into the garden today. Mowed a path through our new wild flower area, transplanted a rooted white Buddleia shrub as an added attraction in the wild area. OH cut the roadside hedge inside and out, I potted up some rooted White Honesty seedlings and I tried my luck with a few fallen conkers picked up recently, put into 3" pots. OH prepared part of the new strawberry bed for me and emptied 12 sacks of wood chip ready for me to rake out evenly tomorrow.
@Guernsey Donkey I could do with some conkers, the house is full of spiders! I've planted all my spring bulbs except tulips. Can't think why I got yellow crocus,I would much rather have purple. Emptied all my pots with Fuchsia,Verbena and Geraniums in them,I won't do as many next year as my arms are aching so much! Poured bleach into paving cracks, and hope it kills the dandelion roots! A good productive few hours in the garden.
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
