Yesterday I dug out an old hydrangea that was showing signs of deterioration earlier in the year and finally gave up the ghost. So now have a nice space for something new. Will have to give that some thought. Trimmed some of the new growth on the Trachelospermum which had come away from the wall under it's own weight. Don't know if the lack of water had contributed to that. It's definitely warm.

Got guys coming to fix the ridge tiles on the house and garage roof, so moved pots so that they have easier access. Otherwise it's just been watering and deadheading. Hopefully they'll be finished by Friday, so l can get out in the forecast cooler weather!
  • I felt slightly more energetic today, so potted up more strawberry runners, in readiness for the new strawberry bed move in September.  We spent an hour tidying up the rose bed, gave them a good feed and water as two bushes are about to have second flushes of flowers.  Too hot in the afternoons for any gardening so a chance to relax and enjoy our surroundings.
  • GD,it's important to sit and look I think! Lots of things you suddenly think you can improve on,just by sitting out with a cuppa, and in my case two cats.

Even doing stuff in the shade is sticky work today. Just pulling up some excess Alchemilla Mollis. OH says any Alchemilla is excess - but it’s good for softening the rocks which border the pond, so I have removed any seed heads and pulled a few clumps up.
Having a break with a cream soda now 😋

  • I've spent the afternoon moving the bird bath, and all the large rocks, plus rockery plants that were all around it. It was hidden behind a huge fuchsia,at the bottom of the garden,so a few metres further up will enable us to see who's visiting! The sparrows are usually in it,but in the winter the robins like a splash!

  • Done nothing for the last four days the old blood pump was misfiring earlier in the week so had to rest :/ then its been raining every time I had a chance to get out there since.  They say it will be dry tomorrow in the morning so I will have a go then.

Couple of hours dead heading last night , once rain stopped
Considering the heat wave garden not looking to bad , obviously some plants have been stressed but they seem ok

Did get to the allotment this morning for a few hours and got started on polly's framework, no need for any watering pumpkins looking good enjoying the warm damp weather.
The garden at home is looking good considering, grass still brown but everything else looks perky enough lots of new growth where I had cut stuff back last month so for that the rain has come at just the right time.
More rain forecast for later this afternoon so just a little pottering after lunch I think or maybe a walk down to the beach.
