I split rockery plants so I had some to put between the rocks round the wildlife pond,then sieved old bits of gravel through my colander (couldn't find the riddle)to put round them,hope it deters the slugs too as I obviously can't use those blue things!!!

I cut off the tops of some of my Cosmos that had no buds,collected various seed pods,and labelled them all,also picked a big bunch of sweet peas,which now have much longer stems on them,due to the rain last week I should think

Bit of hedge trimming and neatening today. The tidying took twice as long as the cutting! The neighbours must have chuckled when I shouted “not the Rhododendron!” at some volume.

Planted a goldcrest cypress I’ve had in a pot for a year, and four new dahlias. Two new goldcrest I’m not sure how to pot yet, going either side of the garden door.
Planted on monarda seedlings, planted anchusa italica dropmore in the garden, bit the bullet and moved 4 dahlias from back to front garden. Lots of dead-heading relaxing now with a rum and kahlua cocktail......life is good
Did dig out 3 grasses from a small bed by hedge , declded they where becoming invasive , have currently just left bare soil , will think about replanting when it is not so hot The one clum I needed an axe to get through the roots !
I was out there early and moved a small Viburnum,Split some primroses,which have trebled through the summer, built a retaining wall with a few heavy concrete blocks! OH will have a fit,but who cares,he's playing golf!!
