I have moved a couple of small plants today - the weather is now overcast but we haven't had any rain for about 8 weeks or so now, so I will be watering them for a couple of weeks at least.
We also cleaned our pond pump/filter as we have found a few tiny newts caught up in the system, some had survived but 50% hadn't.
It's raining !!!!! Managed to plant up hydrangea "Dark Angel Red" that l got from reduced area in Garden Centre, and took some cuttings from it and 2 other hydrangeas in garden. Also took cuttings from salvias - just managed to get it all done before the rain. Trugs lined up to catch every drop.
Maybe I will get some leeks & caulis in the ground at last now we have had a bit of rain- yes yes I know it's really very late maybe the will catch up maybe not worth a go.

Monty put leeks in a week ago and some broccoli, the cauliflower might catch up in the spring.
Had a decent amount of rain this weekend, will do one more round with water collected from the sink and washing machine and that should suffice now with the water now in the butts. I don't normally water in the summer when the butts go dry, but this year established plants were dying.
To celebrate I ordered some new plants, bigger and more expensive plants than I would normally purchase but these were in the sale and varieties I hadn't seen elsewhere cheaper.
Recalculated my winter plant budget, bulbs the top expense, have ordered most of them now, followed by some cordons and soft fruit I want for the allotment. It's a lot of £ but I don't allow myself many hobbies at the mo.
Deadheaded and cut back some stuff, slightly concerned I'll run out of plants before the end of the year, although I've thought that before and it hasn't happened.
Sowed some nasturtiums in gaps in the ground, don't know if they'll come to anything now but we'll see. Collected seeds from a robust pink scabious, I call it everlasting scabious because I've forgotten its name, bees prefer it earlier in the year to later though. The seeds I collected and sowed last weekend have germinated, Sweet William and Small Scabious, another good plant, should add it to the bee plants thread, although lots of things like it, not just bees. Collected and distributed evening primrose seeds, an apricot variety. The little plants don't seem to do well when replanted or moved so hope some will just grow in the right places.
I fed all the plants, strimmed, trained the vine. I’ve caught a cold via our granddaughter, so wanted to get it all sorted for the week given the impending heat forecast, leaving me with just watering to do.
If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need. Cicero
Finally got some late caulis & Leeks in at the plots but it was very hard hot work. I had to water the rows to soften the ground enough to get them in the rain has helped a little bit but not enough.
Potted on some foxglove seedlings..........planted sweet peas, according to sweet pea society if you live in a mild area now is a good time for late flowering flowers, thought I'd try t. Planted out Impomea lobata/Spanish Flag seedlings.......lots of weeding done due to the recent rainfall
