I really love the style and feel of your border there @Busy-Lizzie.
Not managed to do much today but I did find a Bear’s Breeches just coming into bloom - it hasn’t flowered before so I am quite excited!

Weeded in the drizzle, and fixed wire so the Jackdaws can't get to the peanuts hanging on the arch,4 deep purple sweet peas out! Nearly enough for a bunch!

    Thank you Anni and AuntyRach.

I did do some gardening in the end, a bit of weeding in the veg garden and I arranged the leaky hose around the runner beans, tomatoes, sweetcorn and courgettes.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

In garden at weekend pruned 3 early flowering viburnums, did a lot of  tidying up transferred things out of pots to front garden. On Allotments last 2 days still planting things like outdoor cucumber, pumpkins etc. Sowed more carrot, plus Fennel & yet more radish etc for succession. Other than that its been watering, watering, watering as we have had > 5% of average rain this month according to the weather man, & I have to agree so send us some of your rain if you have had enough.

  • Picked my first bunch" of sweet peas, they smell wonderful, on the table next to my chair.

Ate my first picking of broad beans with my dinner last night, daft to feel so self satisfied with myself!

Lovely border BL, wish mine was longer like yours. I've only pottered around today, planted some nasturtiums (still not in flower - how long do they take!), picked some strawberries and thinned out the carrots. Very excited over these in the new veg beds after years of trying and failing so many times.

My Nasturtiums are still not in flower either.
Picked my first sweet peas today.
Moved my bird table as a rat jumped onto it from the wall! Which meant the Arabella clematis which was growing up it,had to be guided in another direction. The birds were straight back on it,so that's good!

  • We removed stale ground from the base of another willow this morning, 3 barrow loads.  We unearthed 50 or so daffodil bulbs from the base of the tree.  We put fresh garden compost, top soil and manure, planting the bulbs in these layers.  We hope the tree appreciates the effort we have made today and we have a lovely display of daffs next spring - something to look forward to in the new year!
Yum, the taste of our own harvest - it is worth waiting for isn't it.  Glad your birds came back so soon Valley Gardener.

I continued the journey of getting our garden into shape, having converted it from patio to lawn and borders.  Today, hacking away at a jasmine that had invaded the garden and bunched up at the top of the trellis. It was much harder than I anticipated, but it looks so much better now, with a great sense of space and light. That, plus pulling up loads of bindweed and general weeding.
