I was busy yesterday. I moved the shed from the "patio" to the east side and table and chairs to the "patio" area which needed a good clear out of rubbish and next doors weeds/ivy. Also cut all the ivy back from that fence. Watered garden, potted up my new camelia into a bigger pot. The garden is finally looking how I want it
Watering and deadheading at 7am. Last night was in garden at 9pm doing the same. Tbh, l think that's all l will be doing for forseeable future, as 2 neighbours are going on holiday next week and have asked us to keep an eye on their gardens.
Sowed some nasturtiums as the existing ones seem to be on their way out. Collected seed from Sweet Williams and ripped the plants out, will try and grow them at the allotment instead, for cheeriness.
Had a jolly good sprinkling of rain in the past week, collected about 250 litres. Will continue watering with soap suds for now as everything seems to have stopped dying from drought, apart from maybe a Guelder rose, and keep the butt for emergency use.
Weeded some or more weeds from each bed, not weed free exactly but slightly tidier, also removed allium sticks and dead bits, not liking the corpse look this summer.
@Victoria Spongeyes it's still the current thread. Still doing a lot of watering. Dead headed the foxgloves and marigolds. Watching the bees on the lavender, seem to have more bees this year.
Dug out some roots gingerly because I know there's water and gas pipes under the bed, but i don't know how deep and I assume electricity gets into the house somehow too. Planted a selection of gaura and penstemon. Drought and slug tolerant -I hope. Fox and cat tolerant, I hope too.

Received the compliment that my front garden “looks like a garden now”
