I sat and looked at the garden today, mulling over where the trees should go (again!), what to do with the things I’m unhappy with etc, ate lunch watching the dragonflies, pricked out centranthus, planted out my cucumbers, went the garden centre and bought plants for my pots, ordered a bulk bag of ‘stuff’ and watered and now I have wine and this months GW mag to read...which is like gardening!

I watered my Acer Orange Dream which usually starts looking scorched when it's hot. Ordered 12 wooden ball finials as a present for my lovely OH who's just finished his new veg beds (yes, we have delusions of grandeur!). Emptied out big pots of tulips and daffs, ready to plant the tomatoes in and painted a bench. Watched the rain from inside with huge excitement (first lot since 27th April here and I was getting worried) and then watched Chelsea. A good day.

We spent most of the day watering, although stopped during midday.  We are desperate for rain as I am still planting out bedding and a new tree arrived this afternoon.  Going garden visiting tomorrow - it is always interesting to view other gardens isn't it?

I planted out the tomatoes, courgettes, cucumbers and sweet peppers in the vegetable garden this morning and I weeded in the flower garden in the afternoon. Then I watched Chelsea while I did the ironing.

  • Scattered a few seeds, disposed of dead slugs, watered my new plants and sat out in the sun with a magazine whilst turning a lovely shade of brown.  :)

Spent several hours weeding, planting, re-planting the sundial bed (gazanias this year) and emptying out 4 troughs and re-planting with summer bedding. Now I'm aching.

A bit late on parade as l actually did this yesterday.Took advantage of the morning's heavy rain to move 3 valerian and a geum. Planted a penstemon, Michaelmas daisy and salvia "Rose sensation". Rain was much needed and made digging out fairly easy, but sill dry about an inch or so down. Everything well watered in and is still upright this morning!

Only me ?! Potted on basil plants, and potted up hardy geraniums. More rain this morning so quite humid.
