  • Very cold today went to plot fed birds and checked the allotment fence still not got extra fence around from council where broken into, Finished putting boards in the other day along plot just need to fill the soil back in for fences to go up

Yesterday went on trip to Homebase to get the chicken house and run had to go to poole in Dorset as my store near by sold out lucky they had one in another store as in the sale a lot cheaper than some places.

I have decided to have chickens house and run look good,  may extend the run, will need to sort the area out on my plot yet and won't get chickens till next year when all up and ready so all put in garage in boxes till ready

Harvested celeriac and have made a sauce for dinner

You'll have to post pictures Gardengirl when the chicks arrive and it is all up and running.

I was at the plot last weekend, we had a mini working day and put in  drainage along the track. It was a really nice day.

I'm replacing one of the side fences on my plot. I've taken the old fence down and put in posts. I've recycled part of the old wire fence, the plan is to nail chicken wire over the old wiring rather than make a trip to the tip with it.

I have a huge bag of dafs to put in too, hope I've not left it too late.

Do you guys have a winter jobs list.

Zoomer , definitely have a winter to do list , a lot of what I call maintance , stain shed , repair fence / posts , got some slabs to put down , a long list of little things

Next priority is pruning fruit bushes and trees , then tidy up some small beds and cover with horse manure for the winter

Have a huge pile of rubbish to burn but to wet
Always something to do , which suits me fine

I've mentally made a list, I'm going to do any ground work jobs before it freezes. Then I've wet day jobs and plan to gravel the beds in one GH, and of course the shed needs a good tidy and sort out.

Lots of wood to burn, that should keep me warm on cold days, tools to sharpen and trips to tip with periennial weeds, must have a dozen bags stock piled. Glass to replace.... the list goes on....

Have you ordered your seeds for next year....,

I've bought my veg for next yr.

Our allotment is affiliated to a national allotment society, and so get huge discounts on seeds from Kings Seeds, there are different deals and extra discounts if ordered before certain times. They have an allotment catalogue and prices are less their usual catalogue which is available on line.

The local B&Q also had a half price deal on all seeds both flowers and veg a few weeks ago, so I bought flower seeds from them.

Had a good sort out in my seed box and can't now fit anymore in there., so good sign to stop buying...:)

Got one tree planted last week a plum

    Hows everyone plots going?

Seeds , need to see what I have left ? Might do that tonight

Went to plot on 6th and dug old strawberry bed , could believe the amount of bind weed I dug up , decided to dig it again which I did today and still got some more out , then covered with horse manure for the winter

Garden & allotment beds ready for winter
At allotment left with pruning and maintained jobs
At home Need to prune tree on stream bank both should keep me busy over the winter

Had a look at sprouts very poor this year , the way it goes , blame the weather !
Parsnips are excellent and so is second bed of leeks that where planted later
First bed of leeks , they are a bit stubby but taste fine which in my book is ok

Can’t beat a bit of fresh air , Happy gardening everybody 🥦
