I agree, glad the tap is turned off now! I may now venture down the garden, the sweet peas are leaning over on their trellis,I can see from the kitchen window that some cosmos have broken off,and they hadnt yet flowered, the lobelia looks like blue rags hanging down the sides of plant urns!

@DovefromaboveI'm glad you finally got some rain - the first since May.

@GWRS "Pleased to say water butts full to over flowing , had to disconnect pipe from roof at home". You can buy a cheap rainwater diverter kit, that will take over flow water from your butt back down the drain.

We had a total deluge in the early hours. What a wonderful sound - rain on the roof.  The heavens opened and I thought the roof might cave in. I have put a hose pipe straight from a water butt to the roots of my new crab apple trees, so hopefully they will be well watered. I lost one of three because I didn't water well enough in the late spring, when we went from very wet to drought.

Good for you @GWRS have a good day.

@Fire we had the rain in the early hours too but it wasn't that much. Waterbuts filled but only just. Top soil is damp but still very dry below.

Funny. I'm just down the road and the ground is sodden.

Luck of the draw I guess. In the past I have had torrential rain at home & nothing on the Allotment & it's less than 2 miles away.
